I’m the first to admit that I’m probably a little addicted to my phone, Instagram, my blog, online shopping, etc! To be fair, I’m online for the majority of my day working in social media and as a blogger too, this normally works it’s way into my evenings so it’s just a part of my every day existence.
200 Degrees Coffee Nottingham
200 Degrees is the newest coffee house to hit Nottingham and it’s the reason I’ll never be going to Starbucks or Costa ever again! You just have to walk past it to realise that it’s not your average coffee shop or cafe, it’s a totally new entity full of amazing homemade food, the best coffee in town and truly friendly staff. They also have a Barista School, they roast their own coffee and have been supplying other coffee shops in Nottingham for a while before they started their own coffee shop. Check them out on Instagram too for some serious caffeine-induced eye candy. Also, definitely try the ham, leek & chilli jam panini, it’s insanely good. Leeks in a sandwich? Trust me.
Cosy-ing up with JUST EAT!
There’s nothing better than eating absolute rubbish in front of the telly when it’s chilly outside and I’m A Celebrity and X Factor are gracing our screens! I know, I know, I’m probably poisoning my brain as well as my body but every once in a while, who cares? Especially when it’s super easy with the JUST EAT app, you don’t even need to ring up the takeaway anymore, you can browse all the ones in your local area on your iPad and just clickety click which one you like. Luke and I had this cheeky Chinese takeaway the other night courtesy of JUST EAT and it was very, very welcome. And not just because we were running out of Tupperware and now we’ve got 4 more boxes! Also, check out our super cute Christmas tree in the background!
The Rise of the Sneaker Freak: Street Style Trainers
Unless you’ve been living under a fashion-related rock you would have noticed the huge surge in trainers becoming a staple part of street style wear for both girls and guys. You can’t turn a corner in a city centre without seeing a pair of New Balance! It amazes me how some trends really take off and I love watching them spread, it’s crazy! I mean, a year ago would we all have been wearing Adidas Originals Stan Smiths or Nike Air Max Thea or slip on Vans? Probs not, just saying. I’m obsessed with this trend, I’ve always been a bit of a trainer head anyway because I just love the comfort – it’s something that just can’t be beaten. But now I can totally embrace my love of all things sneakers because it’s totally on trend. Bonus.
Our Anniversary Weekend at Ox Pasture Hall Hotel
Luke and I have been together a year last weekend and we took the opportunity to vist an amazing hotel in Yorkshire called the Ox Pasture Hall Hotel, a few miles outside of Scarborough. We decided to really celebrate in style as we’ve been through a lot together in such a short time and felt like we deserved a treat!
The Friday Girl's Top 5 Christmas Gifts for Boys
Christmas is creeping up and it’s time to get saving to treat the one you love. Aww! This is a luxury gift guide, with two stocking fillers thrown in. The most expensive item in this gift guide is the Oris BC3 Advanced Day Date from Market Cross Oris Watches. I think it’s a stunning piece and obviously a huge investment but it’s so pretty. Maybe one day I’ll be able to buy this kind of watch for Luke! Something a little bit more down to earth (but only just!) is the brown leather Vivienne Westwood Backpack, it is dreamy! Further down the affordable line is the Whistles Printed Sweatshirt which I love. The camo print is really cool but it’s a little different because of the colour way. Two lovely little stocking fillers are the Tartan Scarf which is available from ASOS for under £20! I also love these cheeky Pug Socks from Topman! What do you think?
Top 3 Websites for Vintage & Antique Lovers
Today’s post is all about some online gems that I love to scour when I’m after vintage and retro pieces or just to pass the time! I hope you like them. First up is We Are Cow – this is an amazing vintage & retro shop and online store. I’m lucky enough to have one on my doorstep in Nottingham but they also have stores in Manchester, Birmingham & Sheffield. Luke and I often pop in for a browse when we’re in town, it’s such a cool shop. I’ve picked three of my favourite pieces that they’ve had new in online recently to share with you guys. I love this blue denim midi skirt, this digital print boxy dress and this polka dot jumpsuit.
Boohoo Maxi Dress Holiday Style
Let me introduce you to one of my favourite holiday outfits, the Boohoo Maxi Dress. I love the pattern, the back detailing and the split up the sides. I always find maxi dresses really hard to walk in because my legs get all tangled up but this one is super flowy and easy to move around in! I had to get this dress taken in as it was swamping me as it only came in S/M/L which is always dangerous sizing ground I think but my all star Mummy took it in for me.
Bedroom Makeover
Over the Bank Holiday weekend we tackled the next room of our house, decorating wise, our bedroom. Here are a few before photos, showing our room, warts and all with the grubby green colour. I think green is definitely now my least favourite colour after sleeping in this monstrosity for a few months. Right now, I never want to see another tin of paint again but there’s still more to do until we’re perfect!
The Stoli Lemonade
When you say ‘Stoli’ to me, I automatically think of Ab Fab and Patsy’s classic Stoli & Bolly combination. Who doesn’t? But the old classic is getting a modern 2014 re-vamp. Stoli went on a tour in a 1950s van around London with their new Stole Lemonade creation, offering it up to the lovely local public! Unfortunately, I was unable to go but I really wanted to try this glorified vodka lemonade so they kindly sent me a bottle and I wanted to share the recipe with you guys! It’s a really refreshing summer drink and it’s great because you can alter the sweetness, lemony-ness and vodka measure in your own pitcher unlike the giant watery Wetherspoon’s pitchers that sometimes grace the table. Grab yourself a pretty mason jar and some straws and settle down for an evening in the sun. Multiply the recipe by 4 to share the pitcher with friends.
