Post in collaboration with Nicole’s Beauty Nottingham a lovely at-home salon in East Bridgford. Nicole kindly gifted me a set of lashes as I wanted to trial whether I’d like them for our wedding and she talked me through the four main options that she has on offer so I wanted to share them with everyone in case it’s a treatment you’re interested in getting. On a side note, Nicole has a very stringent set of policies in relation to Covid-19 so no worries there at all.
How To Plan A COVID Secure Wedding
Well, 2020 has been an interesting one, hasn’t it? Lockdowns and social distancing rules have messed up all sorts of plans and celebrations, including weddings – definitely ours. Brides and grooms who had spent months and years saving up for and planning their dream wedding, hoping to be surrounded by all their family and friends saw their dreams disappear faster than you can shout ‘social distancing’. Many have had to scale it right back, others have postponed and some unfortunate ones have cancelled them altogether – like us.
3 ways to look after your grandparents
AD- Collaborative post
Grandparents. I am so lucky to have them, especially a pair that are very close geographically and personally to me. Fun fact – I actually had 13 grandparents including step-grandparents and great-grandparents when I was born! Grandparents probably looked after us all when we were younger but it could be coming up to the time in their lives where we need to look after them. Here are three things to do to make sure you’re looking after them in collaboration with Age UK.
How to Plan Trip Of A Lifetime Honeymoon
AD – Collaborative post with affiliate links
As you probably know, we’re wedding planning and planning a honeymoon is something that I thought we’d spend most of this year doing. We’ve had to postpone our wedding and therefore have also obviously postponed the honeymoon that we hadn’t even booked yet! We were planning a Scottish highlands trip if we were actually getting married but this has been scuppered too so it’s all planning hands on deck for next year (hopefully!). Here are a few of my tips on where to start when choosing somewhere for your honeymoon.
Hurt Arms Ambergate Review
For a certain someone’s special birthday I booked a treat night away local to us at the Hurt Arms in Ambergate. We loved it so I thought I’d do a little review for anyone close to us in Nottingham that fancies a night away that’s not too far to travel or if anyone is venturing up towards Derbyshire on their UK travels it’s a lovely place to stay that’s really close to picturesque places like Matlock Bath and Bakewell.
September Money Diary
There’s the end of the ‘pay’ month & a pay day mid week for this money diary! I’ll get straight into it, it’s a pretty normal week.
Sunday – £11.65
It’s the last of the good weather this weekend so we take a super long walk to Newstead Abbey which takes us most of the day. We left around 10am and got home at around 4pm with about 25,000 steps in between. We spent £11.30 on our lunch, paid on our joint ‘house’ account, L paid £6 for two absolutely massive ice creams and then £6 for some beers at a pub half way home on our walk. This £12 goes onto our little budgeting app and I’ll pay for something in the future to even things out. We’re lucky that there are a few pubs 10 and 30mins walk away so it’s perfect for sunny walks with little stop offs.
Four steps to manage wedding planning stress
Weddings are one of the biggest events that many of us will plan in our lives. Trust me, we’re there! Even though we’ve had to postpone ours for another year I know lots of people are still going ahead or, they’re planning their weddings in a few years. Weddings – even smaller scale weddings – do tend to take a significant amount of work to plan. It isn’t all too surprising that many people can begin to become stressed throughout this process. There are, however, ways to reduce your stress that you culod try to work into the way you go about things.
What Should You Do With Your Pandemic Savings?
If you endured Covid-induced lockdown like the rest of us, it can be tricky to adjust to the new normal of the end of 2020. While six short months ago you were probably planning your summer holiday and planning on going for that elusive promotion at work, all this may now have changed. One small blessing might be that you might have more money in your pocket because you aren’t heading out as much, you are saving money on fuel, and you are working from home. I know I saved a little bit during the serious lockdown period on this kind of thing but I also definitely spent a bit more on takeaways and treats for the house as we were inside so much more. Take a look at how you can invest and spend your Covid-19 savings in a pandemic world.

If you’re a regular around here you will have seen my journey back to my beloved blonde with Saks salon in Newark and I mentioned some of the products I’m using to keep my hair damage-free and the lengths stronger. I’m loving the products mentioned in that post for my breakage issues but I’ve got a few other products to chat to you about from a brand I’ve only used skincare from before, Gallinée. Gallinée is the world’s first skin and haircare line dedicated to the health and wellbeing of Planet You. Let’s talk about skincare for your scalp.

Let’s talk hair. I’ve been every colour under the sun thanks to those good old teenage years of the Scene. If you know, you know – our poor hair! Despite this, my hair is in pretty good condition apart from a little breakage on one side which I’m convinced is down to the way I sleep. Right side of my head only, always.
