5 Simple Tips for Business Success

All businesses, no matter how big or small, can benefit from reviewing the way things are done from time to time. Remain flexible when running a business and a pragmatic approach will often lead to greater success. Here’s the top five things any business owner can do, often with little effort, to improve their operations! I’m not a business owner myself but I’ve studied business and marketing and now work for a start-up that’s grown rapidly in the past few years so I understand a bit about strategy and switching things up!

1. Develop a Short to Mid Term Strategy

When you are growing a business, perhaps even from scratch, your eyes can be fixed on the ultimate goal which might be years, even decades, away from fulfilment. By looking more into the mid-term and even short-term, you can gain greater focus on what is needed right now. Give your company weekly targets for achieving certain results. These need not all be sales led – some short term aims might be to raise your brand awareness, for instance. However, by focussing harder on monthly or weekly goals, you should find that your overall business strategy starts to fall into place of its own accord.

2. Keep Your Records Up To Date

All successful businesses need to have detailed records on which they can rely. This means updating your list of clients, orders and suppliers regularly. If you try to keep too much information in your head in one go, then the results can be disastrous, especially if you cannot deal with everything yourself. Employees need to have access to records so that they can do a professional job without always having to ask the boss. By keeping detailed records which are as up to date as possible, you will also gain a better understanding of how the business stands financially at any given point. This means you can deal with things like credit risk much more effectively.

How To Chill Out This Summer

The summer time can be a busy time for the old social life because it’s just so much nicer to get out and do things but it’s also important to find time to relax. I also find that I like to work out a lot more in the summer months because it’s lighter, brighter and obviously a lot warmer. But, this means I’m definitely a lot more interested in trying to chill out and rest up if I’ve been killing it in the gym when temperatures rise! Read More

Pizza Is The Way To My Heart

Yep, I love pizza and these Chicago Town ‘The Takeaway’ pizzas are insanely good. They actually taste like the perfect fresh out of the box pizza that you dream about on a Saturday evening. We indulged with a little pizza action this weekend. As much as I love healthy food, working out and the occasional clean eating stint, pizza is good for the soul and it’s probably one of my favourite foods ever. Read More

Where To Eat In Nottingham: Copper

If you’re in need of a seriously good scone or slice of amazing home baked cake then Copper is the place to head. They have three locations in Nottingham, one city centre, Mapperley and West Bridgford. I’ve been to all three and they’re all amazing. I’m here to chat all things cream tea today but their brunch, main meals and lunchtime menu are equally awesome. I really recommend heading here if you’re anywhere near and are the slightest bit hungry. Read More

Speed Date With The Swedes!

If you’ve heard of Midsummer in Sweden then you’ll know that they seriously know how to party and celebrate this occasion. We’re talking food, drink and lots and lots of flowers, it looks simply beautiful in the summer sun! Rekorderlig Cider have put on a free Swedish pop-up festival on their very own vessel, the Midsommarstång! It will be popping up on weekend’s throughout July on London’s waterways, namely Paddington Basin, Granary Square Kings Cross and Olympic Park where guests can immerse themselves in Scandinavian culture, food and drink. Sounds like a pretty fab weekend activit to me, I can’t get enough of Scandi design so I’m sure I’d love the culture as a whole. The festival includes a pop-up party, bar serving Rekorderlig cocktails, a grill and chef’s table four course meal as well as the awesome Seven Flowers Swede Dating event. Screen Shot 2016-06-28 at 17.26.55 Super MTV babe Maya Jama (also Hello! Magazine’s Rising Star of 2016 FYI) headed down to the last dating event and got into the Swedish spirit and mingled with some singles. Rekorderlig Cider is definitely on course to bring true love to the streets (or waterways!) of London this summer. The next dating event, if you fancy heading down, is on 21st July at Paddington Basin. RekorerligSwedeDatingJune16__MG_5495

“The Seven Flowers Swede Dating event follows on from a time-honoured Swedish folklore on Midsummer’s Eve in Sweden where it’s tradition for single women to pick seven flowers and place them in under their pillow at night, and they’ll dream of their future husband. With this in mind, Rekorderlig Cider is hoping the single men and women of London will find the partner of their dreams during the swede dating events!” Read More

The Perfect Summer-Ready Dungarees

If you know me, you’ll know that 90% of the time I dress like a 5-year old and, what can I say, I like it. If you’re telling me that dungarees and trainers aren’t comfortable and therefore an amazing daily outfit choice then quite frankly, you’re silly.

New Look 4 copy

These Blue Patchwork Denim Dungarees are my new favourites, they’re perfect for travelling or flying in, heading to a festival or trekking around a new city on a weekend break. The fit on these dungarees is absolutely perfect. My Run5.30 Nottingham Experience

When you tell people you’ve signed up to run a 5.3k race at 5.30am in the morning, most of them look at you like you’re a bit crazy! I felt a bit crazy as I got up at 4.30am on a Friday morning ready to get in my taxi at 5am and run around Nottingham city centre at half 5 in the morning.

Run 5.30 is an annual event where you can discover your city at a totally unknown time to you by running 5.3k at 5.30 in the morning. It’s a completely different feeling to wandering around the town centre at a normal time and it’s was so cool. The event began in Modena to encourage local people to take part in some physical activity and the creators now have 13 events across Italy, 3 in the UK and 2 in the USA. How great that Nottingham, Derby and Leicester are the UK ones? I think it really puts the East Midlands on the map! Read More
