One Heck Of A Blot!

I love the names of all the Soap & Glory products, they’re always so imaginative and funny – they always draw me in! Recently, when Boots were running on of their 3 for 2 offers I picked up some S&G makeup products to try.

My usual foundation was running low so I needed a replacement. I usually like to try high-end bases and was going to get either the Charlotte Tilbury Magic or Dior’s Forever foundations but I wasn’t 100% sure which one to go for. I didn’t want to drop £30 on a foundation I wasn’t sure about so decided to try the One Heck of A Blot All-Day Foundation from Soap & Glory. So far, I’m quite impressed, it has good staying power and turns into powder from a liquid, which is really cool. I don’t think the shade range is very good, though, there’s only four and I chose Happy Medium and it’s a bit too orange but the lighter shade was definitely too light. When used with the One Heck of A Blot Instant Perfecting Power Primer they provide a long lasting base but the foundation definitely needs building up, the coverage isn’t at all what I was expecting. It’s really light so I needed at least two thin applications and concealer to achieve the coverage I wanted. Read More

Monogram > Monochrome

I’m usually a huge monochrome fiend as you probably know. I love to wear a lot of black, grey and white (well, white when I’m feeling brave and or not going near food or coffee) but occasionally I like a little pop of colour to an outfit and when I saw this bright yellow door near the castle in Nottingham, I knew I had to shoot an outfit photo here. Yep, I’m using a door as my pop of colour and I’m totally OK with that. Read More

A Clarins Summer Skincare Update

The hot weather and summer time usually always means switching up your skincare and beauty routine. It definitely does for me anyway, it’s time for less makeup, mattifying skincare and a lot of moisturisation without feeling weighed down and greasy.

I’ve been trying some exciting Clarins products recently and wanted to share what I thought about them. First up, I’ve recently finished a face scrub so the One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser is a welcome addition to my regime. This is a physical exfoliator which is a subtle amount of ‘scrubby’, it’s not too harsh, smells really good and is a great every-other-day cleanser. My skin feels super fresh after using this and it’s great for removing dead skin cells and a build up of sweat, suncream and other summer gunk build up! Read More
