October equals autumn and autumn equals new beauty essentials as far as I’m concerned. These are my five fresh autumnal products that have crept their way into my routine for this month. Spoiler alert, I already love quite a few of these so I might just re-use this as my October favourites but don’t tell my blog schedule…
#BigHairDo At KH Hair Nottingham
If anyone knows how to throw a fab event, it’s KH Hair Nottingham. Their #BigHairDo event took place tonight and I popped along to see what they had happening.
I had a great colour consultation with Mary which is exciting as I’m actually booked in with Beth at KH Hair on Friday to have my colour redone so now I have an idea what I’m definitely going to go for and I won’t have the panic choice on the day!
4 Indulgent September Favourites
My favourites this month are four special things that have been making my beauty and shower routines feel a little more luxe! It’s always nice to have some luxury in your life and these products definitely have been giving me a little extra in the decadent department.
First up are these Maria Nila Stockholm Luminous Colour Shampoo & Conditioner. These smell fab and left my hair feeling super soft and just clean and lovely. I’ve wanted to try this brand for so long after seeing them all over Instagram, they’re just so pretty and the packaging is gorgeous. I actually won these, luckily, on a little Facebook competition along with a few other products so I was over the moon! I’m not sure if I’d repurchase them yet because they’re quite pricey but I’m loving that I won them. I’d recommend them for sure for coloured hair though because they left my hair in great condition.
Summer Evening Scents From L’Occitane
I’m usually a creature of habit when it comes to fragrance. I love the Rosie from Marks & Spencer fragrance because it reminds me of Chloé and I love Paco Rabanne Lady Million too, it’s an oldie but a goodie. So, when one of the new fragrances L’Occitane popped into my collection it was a completely new thing for me and I really like it. This is a gorgeous evening scent, which blends two pretty white flowers to become Néroli & Orchidée. It also includes ‘fruity bursts of orange and heart notes of peach complete the sensuous bouquet’.
August Favourites: Un-Chippable Nails & Organic Skincare
A slightly early August favourites coming your way this month as I just can’t get enough of these few things and I know that there won’t be anything in the next week or so that makes the cut like these guys have.
Neal’s Yard & Deliciously Ella – Rose, Lime & Cucumber Facial Wash & Moisturiser
NEW: Fresh & Fruity From Blistex
I’m 100% a lip balm addict and when these new Blistex products landed on my door mat I was very excited to try them. Mango is my favourite ‘flavour’ of anything, (except of course for vanilla!) so this new Happy Lips Mango lip balm is now a firm favourite in my handbag. It also comes in a strawberry flavour which is everything you’d think it would be – sweet and fresh!
2 New Season Make-Up Essentials You Need In Your Life
I rarely sway away from the usual suspects in my make-up bag if I’m honest and I also tend to take a while to use products up as I don’t reapply a lot during the day and I don’t use a great deal to begin with! So, trying new products isn’t often something I do but when these two Clarins products dropped through my letter box I was quite excited to give a couple of new products a go!
One Heck Of A Blot!
I love the names of all the Soap & Glory products, they’re always so imaginative and funny – they always draw me in! Recently, when Boots were running on of their 3 for 2 offers I picked up some S&G makeup products to try.
My usual foundation was running low so I needed a replacement. I usually like to try high-end bases and was going to get either the Charlotte Tilbury Magic or Dior’s Forever foundations but I wasn’t 100% sure which one to go for. I didn’t want to drop £30 on a foundation I wasn’t sure about so decided to try the One Heck of A Blot All-Day Foundation from Soap & Glory. So far, I’m quite impressed, it has good staying power and turns into powder from a liquid, which is really cool. I don’t think the shade range is very good, though, there’s only four and I chose Happy Medium and it’s a bit too orange but the lighter shade was definitely too light. When used with the One Heck of A Blot Instant Perfecting Power Primer they provide a long lasting base but the foundation definitely needs building up, the coverage isn’t at all what I was expecting. It’s really light so I needed at least two thin applications and concealer to achieve the coverage I wanted.
A Clarins Summer Skincare Update
The hot weather and summer time usually always means switching up your skincare and beauty routine. It definitely does for me anyway, it’s time for less makeup, mattifying skincare and a lot of moisturisation without feeling weighed down and greasy.
I’ve been trying some exciting Clarins products recently and wanted to share what I thought about them. First up, I’ve recently finished a face scrub so the One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser is a welcome addition to my regime. This is a physical exfoliator which is a subtle amount of ‘scrubby’, it’s not too harsh, smells really good and is a great every-other-day cleanser. My skin feels super fresh after using this and it’s great for removing dead skin cells and a build up of sweat, suncream and other summer gunk build up!
6 Of The Best Summer Face Masks
Summer changes your skin, that’s for sure. I’ve recently just got over a two-year crazy bad bout of cystic acne on my forehead (with the help of antibiotics) and it’s finally changed how I feel about skincare. I feel like I can really enjoy skincare again because I’m not just focusing on the blemishes, I can really see other skincare products working. I’ve been loving face masks again and it’s got me really excited so I thought I’d share some that are on my wishlist and some that I already love using.
