Cutting to the chase, Barber & Parlour is an amazing place to get brunch and little lunch bites in the heart of Shoreditch. Just around the corner from Boxpark Pop Up, this amazing place is somewhere you can have your nails done and for guys to get a haircut and THEN eat some incredible food.
I’m not sure how often they change the menu but when I headed there at the weekend to catch up with some friends Luke & I really loved the food and the setting so I thought I had to share it with you guys.
I love a city break, if you follow my blogging or Instagram adventures, you’ll know this! I also like to think I’ve got *some* London knowledge and I’m not a typical tourist but there are still so many places that I haven’t experienced. So, when Mercure Hotels challenged me with a City Swap with the lovely Milly from Mini Adventures, I jumped at the chance to see what a real Londoner would recommend to me to do.
Freshly landed in Notts is Griddle & Shake, a seriously cool independent burger company which serves killer dirty burgers, heavenly shakes, chicken wings and beers all with a smile! I’ll give you the low down…
The Burgers
If you’re a burger fan but don’t fancy waiting forever for a table or coming out of a restaurant stinking like a meat-smoker then I’ve got the perfect answer! Griddle & Shake is surprisingly awesome. I say surprisingly because you don’t expect something this good to come out of a Subway-style ordering process. You choose your burger (beef, chicken, tempeh or pulled pork), bun (pretzel or brioche), cheese (American, stilton, cheddar or halloumi), side (we’ll get onto fries later) & drink and pay at the till.
Christmas is well and truly on its way and it’s time to start thinking about gifts if you haven’t already. Who am I kidding, we’ve been thinking about gifts since September, right? I have anyway. I’ve already done a couple of wintery and gift-themed posts but this one feels really festive!
I’ll admit it, I’m one of those people that usually takes a picture of something I’ve ordered in a restaurant or a cafe before I eat it. I just want to remember how good it was and of course, I love to Instagram it. I’m always on the look out for tasty places for coffee, breakfast and brunch and when I discovered Bold Street Coffee in Liverpool it fast became my favourite place in the city. Hands down! I mean, I loved Slim’s Pork Chop Express for our evening meal but Bold Street Coffee was so good we had breakfast there twice in two days. I just couldn’t get enough of those scrambled eggs and bacon.
London. Our crazy capital city! I love London in small chunks. A day trip, a weekend break or even just when I have to pop down for a working day occasionally. That’s enough for me! London is so busy that I can only take it in small-ish doses but I always enjoy it when I go because I’m always doing something new, seeing a different sight or eating at a recently-opened restaurant or coffee shop that we’ve spied on Instagram!
It’s that time of year again, time to get cosy and comfortable with Mary Berry & Tom Kerridge at the BBC Good Food Show! Plus last year’s Bake Off winner, Nadiya Hussain will also be there baking up a storm I expect. Some of Britain’s most popular chefs will be demonstrating at the show so you can learn some top tips and check out their prized recipes straight from the mouths of the experts!
I’m very much a home bird usually but recently I’ve been a bit of a social butterfly with so much going on. It’s the festive season, there’s always a lot happening around this time of year! But, saying that, I do love a good night in with my nearest and dearest. Whether it’s the girls or just my partner in crime, an evening on the sofa is sometimes just what you need when you’ve had a busy week at work.
Having my tea out is one of my favourite hobbies. Yep, eating out is definitely a hobby, it’s 2016, I can claim that, right? Our latest trial was Coast To Coast in Victoria Centre, Nottingham. The all-American inspired restaurant is supposed to give you a taste of anywhere in the USA that you’d want to visit. Now, I don’t know really how authentic things are because I’ve only been to New York for a couple of days so I’m just going to rate it on the usual benchmarks…
