Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Awards; WIN £1,500 For Your School

This is a great little guest post from Kellogg’s all about their Breakfast Clubs and how schools could win £1,500 for their own clubs. I took advantage of these great clubs when I was tiny and I think every school should have a breakfast club! Thanks, Kellogg’s!

Schools could win up to £1,500 and other great prizes for their pre-school club by entering the national Breakfast Club Awards. 85% of schools in the UK have a Breakfast Club which gives schoolchildren the opportunity to get something to eat in the morning so they go into the classroom with a full tummy and ready to learn. Revolution’s Hockley Nottingham Summer Specials Review

Another day, another pizza! We love a Sunday evening out for tea and last week we popped along to Revolution in Hockley to sample their Summer Special menu which is a new, fresh and light selection of dishes. This teeny tiny new menu is packed full of flavours from Rome and Naples and has 5 mains and one dessert. Luke and I both played it safe and went for pizzas! I had the Campo De’ Fiori Romana which has courgette, anchovies, mozzarella and ricotta as well as a little bit of pesto, this was really fresh and tasty but I would have definitely liked to have a bit of a tomato base with some more cheese. I know that’s not as ‘light’ as it’s meant to be but that’s personal preference. Read More

Calorie Counting? Is It All Bad?

When someone says ‘calorie counting’ people almost always conjure up negative images of poor health, being over weight or even, unfortunately, being under-weight. But really, a little calorie counting or just a basic knowledge of them can really help your overall wellbeing, weight and health, in my opinion. I use MyFitnessPal on my iPhone to give me little help but I’ve also had my macronutrients worked out by my super clever boyfriend! Macros aren’t hard to work out though, all you need to do is go to IIFYM.com and pop some easy details into the calculator to see how much you should be eating in terms of protein, carbs and fats to maintain, lose or gain weight. It’s really a lot easier than it seems. Read More

Budget Crayfish & Prawn Salad

Ok, I know what you’re thinking. How can crayfish and prawns be budget? Someone remarked the other day that my lunch looked ‘so expensive’ in a fairly judgemental ‘why are you spending so much money on food, you’re irresponsible’ way. This kind of annoyed me because I know that I don’t overspend, I like to think I’m pretty good with money and love to eat good food but don’t want to spend the earth on it. In my teeny household we spend max £40 a week on food for two people and we eat this kind of ‘fancy’ salad at least once a week. This is one of my favourite lunches that I’m having at the moment and it’s well within our budget. I shop at Lidl so these are the roundabout prices for there, they occasionally chop and change though, so take them with a pinch of salt. Read More

Harvester Review: Nottingham

We popped down to the Castle Marina branch of Harvester last weekend for a little Sunday munchies action after I was invited for a review. Here’s what we thought of our meal! This was the first time either of us had eaten at a Harvester so we didn’t really know what to expect. We’d never really had the urge to eat there in the past to be honest as there’s one in Nottingham town centre but as it’s around the same price points as a lot of other eateries, there’s always somewhere else we’ve chosen. Let’s see what we had! Read More

I’ve Always Got Time for Pizza

From a healthy-eating post on Monday to a not-so-healthy eating review today! I love pizza. I will never give it up, sorry clean-eating me, it won’t happen. When Chicago Town sent me a few vouchers to pick up their latest range of pizza-inventions I was straight down to Tesco picking up these badboys. First up, the Pizza-Melt, I have a bone to pick with them about this though, I expected (maybe naively) for the pack to have two of these pizza melts in but it actually only had one. They were obviously really tasty, we tried the pepperoni, ham & mushroom variety and they were a nice little Sunday afternoon snack! We also went for the classic Deep Dish mini pizzas which microwave in a diet-cheating 3 minutes and they were also amazingly tasty! Check them out if you’re after a seriously quick and yummy cheat meal. Read More

Low-Calorie Raspberry Overnight Oats

I’ve seen overnight oats everywhere recently, Pinterest, Instagram, Buzzfeed, you name it, they’re all over social media! I’ve wanted to try some for a while but I wasn’t keen on eating it cold, I think it’s a bit gross. So, here’s a little recipe I made out of a few different ones I had a look at which can be eaten hot or cold! The macros per portion are approximately 170 calories (before you add extra toppings) 5g of fat, 23g of carbs and 6g of protein. I really like these, they taste great and are so quick to prepare the night before and even quicker to heat up in the morning. Read More
