Being A #NapQueen + New Beauty Buys

It might be a little bit early for a favourites post but I thought it was time as I’ve been loving all of these products for the past few weeks. There’s a mix of beauty, skincare, fashion and a tea in here, all perfect for the springtime.

Faves 2

First up are the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Cleansing Wipes. These are new in the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Range and they’re the perfect morning pick me up for a quick cleanse or as the first step in my evening skincare routine to take off all my gunky makeup before going in with a cleansing gel or balm. Next and lastly in skincare is an eye cream. My love for avocados is growing by the day so it was only a matter of time until I picked up the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. I feel like my skin is definitely getting more dry in texture as I’m getting older and especially the skin around my eyes can feel like it needs some TLC so this is perfect as it’s super hydrating. 6 Must-Have Pieces To Hike In Style

Hiking is one of my favourite activities to get outside during the spring because it can feel like a real adventure and you can spend a whole day in the fresh air, something that most of us don’t get the chance to do if we have office jobs. When the warmer weather comes around I always think it’s great to do something a little different when it comes to fitness too. We can become stuck inside a gym during the winter months because of the horrific weather because who loves to run about in the rain and the snow when you could be inside a cosy gym? Not me, that’s for sure! Read More

Strawberry & Banana Oaty Bars

I’ve been having a thing for chocolatey snacks recently with the success of my Double Choc Protein Tray Bake but times are changing! I fancied something a bit more fruity now that springtime is on its way so I had a little Pinterest search and came across these Strawberry Banana Oat Bars and I gave them a go. This isn’t my recipe, it’s from Running With Spoons blog and it’s amazing so I’ve hardly changed it apart from I’ve removed the American measurements and replaced with British ones. ‌ Berry Oat Bars 3 ‌ Last time I whipped them up I used a mix of blueberries, strawberries and raspberries and they were really tasty but this batch is purely strawberry which gives them a slightly sweeter taste. These bars are super easy and only have a few ingredients. The only taxing bit is making the jam and you can swap this out for shop bought jam if you’re not watching your sugar intake. Chia seed jam is surprisingly easy to make, it just takes a little time to cool. It’s a great idea to make it the day before you plan to whip up your Oat Bars but I always seem to forget! Ingredients: For the strawberry chia jam:
  • 350g frozen strawberries (or any other fruit that you fancy!)
  • 30 ml maple syrup or honey
  • 20g chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon  vanilla extract
For the oat dough:

  • 80g rolled oats
  • 80g oat flour or Instant Oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 medium-sized ripe bananas, mashed (about 200g)
  • 60 ml maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

90% Say No To Nutrition Plans

I love a good statistic about health and fitness and I was so surprised when I saw this infographic and it said that 90% of people from the survey (around 250 people, I believe) said that they didn’t follow a nutrition or eating plan in conjunction with their gym training plans. Why? If you’re planning your training or even just training ad-hoc there’s no reason why you shouldn’t want to eat to the best of your ability too and get the best out of your efforts. Read More

Low Carb Cheesy Egg Muffins Recipe

Egg muffins are an awesome snack to have on hand in the week, especially if you find yourself reaching for the biscuit tin or a quick slice of toast when hunger strikes. They take about 10 minutes to prep and 20 minutes to cook in the oven so they’re really quick and easy to make. These muffins are also seriously tasty and are really versatile. You can add whatever flavours that you like but these cheesy spinach versions are my favourite at the moment – they’re great for using up leftovers! Read More

20 Minute Spinach & Feta Falafels

Falafels are one of my favourite savoury snacks to prep on the weekend for the week ahead’s lunches. They’re packed with tasty feta and spinach and are a great addition to salads, pitta bread or on their own with some carrot sticks and houmous. This recipe makes 12 small falafels which are around 70 calories each with 7g carbs, 2-3g of fat and 4g of protein.
