6 Must-Have Pieces To Hike In Style

Hiking is one of my favourite activities to get outside during the spring because it can feel like a real adventure and you can spend a whole day in the fresh air, something that most of us don’t get the chance to do if we have office jobs. When the warmer weather comes around I always think it’s great to do something a little different when it comes to fitness too. We can become stuck inside a gym during the winter months because of the horrific weather because who loves to run about in the rain and the snow when you could be inside a cosy gym? Not me, that’s for sure!

Here are six essentials that you’ll need for a successful springtime hike. First up is a pair of good quality walking boots or trainers, this Hi-Tec Flyaway II pair are amazingly lightweight and breathable which make them perfect for the spring and summer. These are best for hiking on easier terrains, I wouldn’t recommend these trainers for hiking over a lot of loose ground as they don’t have much ankle support. These are also awesome for the gym because they don’t look too ‘walking-boot’ like, if you know what I mean.

You’ll need a sweet outfit for hiking in the spring time, I’ve chosen some funky colours because I can’t stand boring workout gear. These Ivy Park Seamless Capri Pants from Beyonce’s new range are a great colour. I also thought the colour of this Sweaty Betty Resistance Sports Bra would pick up nicely on the coral in the Hi-Tec trainers. Round everything off with a versatile half-zip Under Armour Long Sleeve Top, you can have this zipped up if it’s chilly and unzipped for more ventilation. Perfect!

A good sized daypack is an essential for springtime hikes, I love the colours of this The North Face backpack, it’s also a great size for your lunch and snacks. I’m really enjoying the Trek bars at the moment, you can pick these up in most supermarkets and Holland & Barrett stores, they’re super tasty and don’t have any refined sugar and are packed with tonnes of carbs and protein to fuel your walking. Don’t forget a good sized water bottle too, I’ve just discovered these Infruition fruit-infusing water bottles which are super sleek and chic and you can pack them with fruit for an extra flavour hit. You’ll also need to pack a lightweight waterproof jacket just in case the heavens open and pack a spare pair of socks to change into once you’re back at your car or minibus. Happy hiking!
