There’s always so much conversation about Valentine’s Day, is it romantic, is it just marketing ploys to get you to spend money, is it a big deal in your relationship, is it not? SO MUCH CHAT. Everyone seems to have such a strong opinion on it and I don’t see why people can’t just let it wash over them and take it for the novelty cuteness that it is.
I think it’s kind of sweet, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t want to buy your better half a cute card and a cupcake and tell them that you love them. Yes, you probably tell them every day but why not make a special effort on just one day a year? In my opinion, Valentine’s Day is fine and it’s not a deal breaker if I don’t get a card, but, if I do, it’s a lovely gesture and I’ll always buy one. I don’t know why people lose their shit if they don’t get a huge present and a card and threaten to dump their boyfriend or fall out about it if they don’t get a new Pandora ring and a gigantic Millie’s cookie, are you insane?

The same goes for the other way, why do people get so crazy about being ‘Anti-Valentine’s’ like it makes you so much of a better person because you have a stance on something. Give me a break! If you don’t want to get involved and if you don’t want to spend your money, don’t. But, at the same time, don’t preach to people that do want to indulge in Valentine’s Day that they’re being brainwashed by marketers.

Valentine’s Day for me is a bit different and every boyfriend I’ve ever had has told me that it’s a nightmare as my birthday is the day after. It’s two separate days after all and I don’t expect a gift for Valentine’s Day so, grab me a cheap card, tell me you love me like you always do, a cupcake won’t go a miss and save the celebrations for the next day! But, all the same, I’ll be buying Luke a card this year and I’ve even bought him a little gift because I wanted to, it’s not his birthday until September and I fancied treating him, so Valentine’s Day has given me the perfect excuse. I don’t expect a gift back and I definitely don’t want a teddy bear bigger than me and a million red roses. He knows the way to my heart and it’s usually food based and I know he loves me so I won’t lose my shit if I don’t get anything.

What are you opinions on Valentine’s Day? Are you a V-Day crazy, a somewhere in the middle like me or a ‘this is commercial bullshit’ gal? Let me know why either way!
I decorated these super cute vanilla cupcakes with some goodies fromĀ Cake Angels, basically, they’ve saved my typical ugly baking from looking like it’s usual self and actually making it look kind of cute! And yep, I made them out of a box because I am possibly the worst baker ever and Tesco saved my tiny butt here. Cake Angels sent me these goodies to have some Valentine’s fun with but all opinions are my own and this post is not sponsored.
