Are You Comfortable In Your Own Skin?

It’s a sad fact that many of us just aren’t exactly happy when we look in the mirror. In the scheme of things, it’s perfectly okay to not be too fond of your muffin top, or despair over bingo wings. We can do certain things to change how we look, but most of just have to accept that we’re never going to be 100% perfect. And why should we be? Find me someone who is! Still, many of us beat ourselves up because we fail to meet up to impossible ideals. The reason most women don’t look like the ones in a magazine is simple. We haven’t sat for hours being primped and preened by professional hair stylists and makeup artists. Nor have we had the benefit of an experienced photographer with optimised lighting. And surprise, we haven’t been photoshopped to an inch of our lives, either! Read More

If that brand is a little out of your price-range, there are 18 more dark lipsticks listed here ranging in price.   Read More

Date Night Beauty Essentials

Stressing about a big date for Valentine’s Day? Don’t worry, here’s my last minute routine for relaxing and getting that perfect makeup look! Or, any of these gems could make amazing Valentine’s gifts for her.

When it comes to date night beauty, it has to be super pretty for me. This means glowing skin, a subtle smoky eye, a nude lip and tonnes of highlighter. So, how do I get ready for a big date night? First of all, it’s a relaxing bath where I’ll light a lovely smelling candle such as the Katie Loxton ‘Love’ Fig & Apple Blossom and maybe watch an episode of Grey’s Anatomy or some Lisa Eldridge makeup tutorials. I’ll use a body scrub such as the Molton Brown Heavenly Gingerlily Body Polisher to get rid of any stubborn dry skin on knees or elbows. Moisturiser and a dab of Lancome Flash Bronzing Gel is next, especially if I’m wearing a dress or a skirt. I usually combine my self-tanner with a moisturiser for more of a glow than a full on tan, it’s a bit prettier and a lot more subtle. Read More

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani: Firebird #UDxGwen

Say hello to a very beautiful new addition to my lipstick wardrobe. This is the Firebird lipstick and lip liner from Gwen Stefani’s new range at Urban Decay and it is so amazingly bright – these photographs really don’t do it justice. From the off I was super impressed with this duo, firstly I applied the UDxGwen Lip Pencil in Firebird all over the lips to lock in the colour and it was so creamy and easy to work with. I then applied the matching UDxGwen Lipstick in Firebird and this is where the magic happens. This lipstick has a slight sheen to it without looking glossy and shiny but there’s a subtle shimmer of purple and blue which really gives it an edge if you’re looking closely. Check out me wearing it over on Instagram. Current Beauty Base Favourites

A little beauty post for us all today! I’ve got a few products that I seem to be reaching for on rotation at the moment to get a base I’m really enjoying wearing. Kicking off with the Smashbox Photo Finish Pore-Minimizing Primer and the Benefit Stay Don’t Stay Eyeshadow & Concealer Primer as a base. I find that I always need a eye-corrector like this primer to get rid of any darkness, redness and discolouration. Even if I’m not wearing eyeshadow I’ll use this primer to smooth everything out.
