How To Bring The Outside, Inside
Have you ever gone out and seen decor in a bar or restaurant that you’ve thought would suit your own home? Well, if you have, why stop one with just one piece of decor — why not give your home a revamp and renovation inspired by the interior you’ve seen.
Give your kitchen a revamp by giving it a bistro and restaurant-style makeover. You could start by giving your kitchen a black and white colour scheme. Turn your walls white and then bring in cabinets, counter tops, and titles that all provide black accents. You should also adorn your counter tops with marble surfaces, in order to give your bistro kitchen that all important ‘expensive’ look, even when it wasn’t necessarily that expensive to create. All of this, however, should sit on top of typical café flooring. You could pick from an array of styles, such as hardwood or white tiles. What instantly screams ‘bistro’, however, is black and white flooring. Do black and white squares not conjure up images of restaurants and kitchens in Paris to you? Well, you can step into Paris every time you step into your kitchen by following these tips.
3 Quick Kitchen Revamping Ideas
This is my favourite tip for almost any room in a home that needs a little update! Adding faux or fresh plants and flowers really lift any room. And, as a bonus, you can get creative with your plant pots. By adding some materials like copper and silver-coloured plant pots you can really add some Scandi-cool vibes to your kitchen. I love cacti, succulents, and spider plants! 2. Fresh Utensils & Appliances Scour homeware websites and supermarkets for discounted and sale home appliances or just invest in a fresh toaster and kettle set and you’ll be surprised what £100 worth of new gadgets can do to a kitchen. Forget about that expensive renovation and just focus on small additions and remember to keep them clean. Everything looks better after a good clean, too! Plus, if you’ve got some manky wooden spoons and a melted spatula sitting in a jar next to your stove then it’s bound to look a bit naff, pick some new new spoons for a couple of pounds next time you’re in a homeware store and your whole kitchen will be instantly lifted! 3. Upgrade Your Metallics Something small that can really lift a kitchen is the addition of some new metallic elements as they’re super shiny and will make your entire kitchen look like new! The easiest way to do this is to upgrade your cupboard handles if they’re metal and also your kitchen taps! You can pick up some new taps for between £100-175 from an online store such as Superbath who stock affordable and quality brands like Grohe. For a couple of weeks saving (and a few lew cocktails on a Friday night), you could have a super swish new kitchen taps and a fresh looking sink! Once you’ve scrubbed up your sink with some metal cleaner and added some sparkle, it’ll be as good as new. Obviously, if you know a kitchen fitter or a plumber that will do you some mates rates on the fitting that would save you, even more, pennies! 5 Brilliant Bathroom Storage Ideas
In any home, storage is so important. Having enough of it is the only way for you to stay organised, and keep a tidy and nice-looking house. Tidying is super important to me, I even have it on a line in my Daily Habits for my Buller Journal! I don’t necessarily do a deep clean every day, that would be crazy, but I do have a little tidy up every day.
Illuminate Your Life: Lighting Not Paint
Our homes are a reflection of who we really are. From the books we display on our shelves to the pictures we hang on the wall, it all tells the story! With a focus on redecorating normally being aimed more at the colour schemes of our walls, it’s time you ditched the feature walls and took things back to basics! As you probably know, I love the Scandinavian theme. I’ve popped a post up all about it here and here.
Interiors: 3 Ways To Incorporate Tropical Prints
Interiors are another passion of mine, amongst style, food, fitness and eating pizza. I love decorating a new room, finding bargain homeware and pinning to my heart’s content on Pinterest. You can find my interiors board here and find my current obsessions for all things to do with tropical prints and green! I’ve teamed up with Elite Blinds today to bring you some of my favourite ways to incorporate these two trends into your home with easy and affordable options.
2017 Scandi Bedroom Inspiration
If there’s an area of the home where we can really let our imaginations run wild, it’s in the bedroom. Whilst kitchens require a touch of functionalism, and living rooms usually have a television or fireplace as their focal point, our bedrooms are our most privates places, and offer us a huge chance to try some interesting design schemes. Obviously, my favourite style is minimal and Scandi! A quick check on Pinterest reveals how I’m usually drawn towards a modern and contemporary feel that has enough quirkiness and individuality to embrace some more unconventional trends. (I love Liz’s home board! Check out mine here.)
3 Tips For Getting & Staying Organised
New year, new you, right? If one of your goals for this year is to be more organised them I’ve got a few tips for you. These are based on skincare and beauty because it’s one of the things that I hate to be disorganised because it’s so hard to find the eyeliner or moisturise sample you want in a massive dark makeup bag, isn’t it? Obviously, these tips can transfer to whatever you want to organise! For me, it’s my kitchen cupboards next. If someone could buy me a spice rack, I’d love you forever.
