10 things to do in York during a weekend away

View from Clifford's Tower York Castle

Amongst the city walls and history there are so many things to fill your time with in this lovely Northern city but these are some of my top things to do in York. We were there for 48 hours and we didn’t get all of these things in but we did most of them and spotted the others along the way!

Eating my way around Soho; Kaffeine, The Detox Kitchen and Crumbs & Doilies

This was going to be one of my ’24 hours in’ posts just like I’ve done with Leeds, Birmingham and London previously but we were actually only in Soho, London for about 5 hours so this is a little more compact but still jam-packed full of fun and delicious food. We didn’t have chance to stay in any hotels in Soho because we stayed the night before with our friends in beautiful Greenwich after a random but fun night at the O2 watching the Harlem Globetrotters! The Coach House, Derby

Say hello to the beautiful Coach House B&B in Derby, a boutique bed and breakfast with 7 amazing rooms. This was a total treat for my birthday and it was an amazing stay so I had to pop up a little review about it. Literally 10 minutes from Derby city centre, around 30 minutes from Nottingham and 10 minutes from National Trust Kedleston Hall is this lovely little B&B. Read More

Do you think you’re a good driver? #UKDrivingDistractions

Story time about driving coming up! I passed my test when I was only just 18 which was a really early age to pass I think. I literally started learning when I was 17 and I’d had a few airfield driving lessons before then. I went through two driving instructors and bloomin’ 4 practical tests but I passed my theory first time. I think I’m an OK driver. I’m careful because I don’t drive all that often anymore – probably once a week to go to Tesco, if that! We have our car on finance which is super affordable and means we can trade it back in in a few years but there’s car leasing to try too as well if you don’t want to buy your car outright if you’re thinking of buying a new one. 24 hours in Leeds; beer & bhajis

Ahhhh, Leeds. I love this place! I mentioned in my first post when we originally explored it how much I enjoyed the city. I love how it feels fairly clean, (for a big city!), the shopping is awesome, there’s tonnes of places to eat and drink – from the chains that we all know and love if you need something to rely on to awesome independent places that you can discover and love forever. 5 summer essentials in my beauty cupboard

Since actually getting myself a beauty cupboard in my new bathroom as opposed to just a crammed drawer of everything I have ever owned I’m feeling a bit more organised and wanted to share a few faves and a few newbies that have sneaked in.

First up my love for Magnitone continues but I also kind of hate mine right now. I bought some Soft & Gentle replacement heads and changed it up, probably should have done it months ago because now my face has exploded because it’s getting a deep clean. Ugh. I hate that I’ve broken out but I know that it’s because there was a load of crap there that needed to come out but break outs still suck. I feel like none of my products are working to really combat it either so I’m just hoping it’s a storm that will pass! I’ve spoken about this before in my ‘Why breakouts can be a good thing‘ post. Where to eat vegan in Leeds – Temple Coffee & Doughnuts

Well, I say Leeds because technically it is in Leeds. But, it is not in the city centre. Only visit these guys if you’re driving or you’re going to the student-y side of Leeds anyway. Don’t take a £13 round trip in an Uber for one like we did. Doh. (Lol, just read that back, not an intentional doughnut pun, I’m just gonna leave that in there…). It was almost worth it though because these guys are insanely delicious. Read More

Weekend Chills in Lincoln

After a crazy week which involved no blogging at all we headed to Lincoln for what we hoped would be a sunny, spring-like cute day out. Unfortunately, it ended up being -2 and snowing but it was still lovely to visit somewhere new and having some time out. I love checking out new cities in the UK that we haven’t been to before and it was even nicer to just travel somewhere just for the day. Lincoln is only 55 minutes from Nottingham on the train and the train station is literally around the corner from the town centre. Read More
