24 hours in London

Work/life balance has been a bit crazy recently but it definitely has some really great perks. I’ve been┬áhaving to travel to London a few times a week recently and luckily, one of these trips happened to fall on a Friday which was super close to one of my oldest friends’ birthdays so I stopped for the weekend and for her birthday brunch!

When trips like this are a little bit impulsive and more exciting than your average planned in advance thing I convinced Luke to come and stay for the weekend too and pop down on the train. Of course, we didn’t want to completely crash the party so we needed a quick-to-find hotel that was also obviously comfy and close to travel links. The perfect arrival popped up in the form of the lovely new Super Rooms at the Travelodge. Amazingly located in Kings Cross,┬áthe Super Rooms are definitely a lot comfier than their usual rooms and the decor is a *little* bit fancier. King size beds and a Lavazza coffee machine, what more can you want?

Obviously breakfast is an important part of a hotel stay and we tucked into a few pastries and some other treats. This particular Travelodge, Kings Cross Central, didn’t have a cooked option, just as some info, but I didn’t really mind because I love cereal and pastry and coffee! Unlimited pastries aren’t a bad thing are they?

The location of the hotel was amazing in terms of the transport links, so close to St Pancras and the tube but, because of this, there was a train that went past the hotel about every 15 minutes so it was pretty noisy but what else do you expect in London? Not sure but it was loud enough that I couldn’t have the window open when I was boiling hot so it was a bit uncomfortable over the night.

To complete our weekend we popped to one of our favourite breweries, Beavertown because they have a tap room that you can drink at straight from their brewery so it’s loads cheaper than drinking in bars etc. This was so cool, they had a couple of food trucks and sold merchandise and had a lot of their beers that aren’t out in bars yet so it was really good. It was also really easy to get to, simply get the Victoria line to Tottenham Hale and walk 5 minutes around the corner. Take your Google Maps, you’ll need it!

Huge thank you to the Travelodge for this complimentary stay, mucho appreciado.
