Top 3 red lip tips

The party season is the perfect time for a red lip. Now, I love red lipstick all year round but it’s especially fun and festive at Christmas time. Here are my three top tips for perfecting your pout.

1. Use a liner
If you find it tricky to keep your red lip neat, start off with a sharp lip liner in the same shade as your lipstick and trace the outline of your lips first – just make sure you’ve got a steady hand, your liner is sharp and you don’t over line your lips. Plus, if you want your lipstick to last longer, you can fill in your lips with your liner before you apply your lipstick too. Lipliner is less slippy than lipstick and therefore it’s easier to control the outline of the colour.

Date Night Beauty Essentials

Stressing about a big date for Valentine’s Day? Don’t worry, here’s my last minute routine for relaxing and getting that perfect makeup look! Or, any of these gems could make amazing Valentine’s gifts for her.

When it comes to date night beauty, it has to be super pretty for me. This means glowing skin, a subtle smoky eye, a nude lip and tonnes of highlighter. So, how do I get ready for a big date night? First of all, it’s a relaxing bath where I’ll light a lovely smelling candle such as the Katie Loxton ‘Love’ Fig & Apple Blossom and maybe watch an episode of Grey’s Anatomy or some Lisa Eldridge makeup tutorials. I’ll use a body scrub such as the Molton Brown Heavenly Gingerlily Body Polisher to get rid of any stubborn dry skin on knees or elbows. Moisturiser and a dab of Lancome Flash Bronzing Gel is next, especially if I’m wearing a dress or a skirt. I usually combine my self-tanner with a moisturiser for more of a glow than a full on tan, it’s a bit prettier and a lot more subtle.

October Beauty & Skincare Empties

I feel like I haven’t written an empties post in forever! It takes me a while to finish up most things because I normally have a few of the same type of product on the go at the same time. I’ve got loads in this post but I’m only going to talk about six things in it that I’d buy again to keep it short and sweet! First up is the Clarins Eau Des Jardins Body Moisturiser which is dreamy and smells awesome and is really moisturising. The scent lasts literally all day too! Next up is Avene’s Cleanance Cleansing Water – I grabbed another sample size of this for my holiday and I love it so I’ll definitely be getting a full size one when I need a new cleanser.

Kiss Featherlight Eyelashes

False eyelashes are something I’m wary of now, they can make you look too done up, fake and like you’ve just walked off the set of TOWIE circa 2011. But, when I heard about Kiss lashes, that are supposed to feel and look like natural lashes, I thought I’d give them a go.  These are from the Featherlight collection and I tried out ‘Iconic’ the other night when I went out in Manchester. The ‘Iconic’ versions aren’t very thick and they don’t have a thick band that looks too much next to your actual lash line. I always have to trim my lashes down so I cut nearly a cm off the long ends of them to make them fit. I was really surprised by how soft and comfortable they were, they looked really, really natural and I was able to apply a small amount of mascara to make them blend into my actual eyelashes really easily. Normally, with false lashes mascara doesn’t go on very well and ends up looking clumpy but these were really lovely. So all in all, I was really happy with these lashes and I’d definitely recommend them to anyone who feels like they need something extra but they don’t want to go for the full on celebrity fake eyelashes look. They looked really soft and natural. They’re an American brand and are mostly stocked in Walmarts and that sort of thing but they are available in Boots over here priced at just under £5, which is also a bargain! photo IMG_6584_zpscf5c0e19.jpg Kiss Featherlight Lashes – £4.49*
