The Make-Up Cleanse

After watching Essie Button’s make-up cleanse video this week I thought it was probably time to sort mine collection out. I don’t have absolutely masses of stuff but I’ve definitely got more than my friends obviously due to having a beauty blog! A few things that I use on a daily basis are nearly ran out so I’ve kept those few bits to use up but I did get rid of a few mascaras that were definitely past their use-by date and a few eye-shadows and nail varnishes too. These are probably what I have the most of and now I only have one Muji drawer of nail varnish – I think that’s an achievement in itself.

I’ve left myself with one mineral foundation, one liquid foundation, one concealer, one eye base and one illuminating base. Two powders, two bronzers, 4 blushers and one highlighter. I’ve got a few primers that are nearly finished so I’ve kept them all to use up! I still have 3 mascaras, two liquid eyeliners and a couple of eyeshadow palettes. Not loads, but definitely still more than your average make-up collection.

Powder products like bronzer can be kept for up to 2 years unless they start to smell funny and foundations should be used up within a year. Eyeshadows can be kept for up to three years like kohl eyeliners but mascaras 4-6 months once opened and I’d definitely had a few for a lot longer than that. Is it time to sort your make-up collection out?
