I think it’s important to look for ways to enrich and improve life, you only get one after all! Here are a few suggestions for changes you could make that can help you on the way to transforming your life for the better.
I’ve just picked up ‘I Know How She Does It – How Successful Women Make The Most Of Their Time’ by Laura Vanderkam and I’m reading ‘Zero Waste Home’ by Bea Johnson again. Both books are designed to inspire you to improve your life by managing your time more efficiently and de-cluttering your surroundings.
1. Monitor What You Eat
As women, we are often preoccupied by what we’re eating and when. So it can’t hurt to keep a record of what you eat to make you more aware. I like to count the calories I consume so I know what I’m putting in my body. Of course, you need to make sure you don’t get obsessive over this. But, if you can stay sensible then it’s a great way to help you stay fit and healthy.
2. Change How You Get Around
One of the biggest changes you can make in your life is to change your mode of transport. Whether you switch to a bike, Seg board, or scooter changing transport can make a big difference to your life. A car can be a big expense, and it can be a pain to maintain. So be sure you switch to something that you feel will fit in with your lifestyle.
3. Get a Makeover
I think that it’s important to look as good as you can every day of your life, as it definitely makes me feel better if I feel like I look my best. It shows you take pride in your appearance! If you are unhappy with the way you look it could be time to consider a makeover. I’m strongly considering some kind of cosmetic dentistry as I’m really unhappy with my smile. I’ve always hated it since I can remember! Maybe it’s time for me to take some of my own advice.
4. Start a New Career
A lot of people are dissatisfied with their careers and this is an indicator that things could need to change. I feel it’s important to do something you love, or at least something you’re passionate about, regardless of how much money it makes you. If you are unhappy in your chosen career, this can bring you down, and it could lead to bigger issues. If you don’t like your job, it’s time to be proactive.
5. Work Out!
It’s in our nature to judge our bodies, and this is perpetuated by media portrayals. While it’s not healthy to get caught up in comparing ourselves to other women, we do need to be happy with how we look. Positive body image improves confidence and self-esteem. I try to keep to a dedicated fitness regime to help me feel like I’m doing something to positively get me to where I want to be. Try and do something active almost every day, at the moment I’m either running for around 30mins, going to a yoga class or playing tennis with my boyfriend. Every little helps!
