4 Things Your Garden Needs In March

The springtime is on its way – hopefully sooner rather than later as far as I’m concerned. It’s time to start thinking about getting the garden ready for summer and we’re hoping to have some BBQs and summer parties, weather obviously permitting. Fingers crossed for an amazing summer! Here’s four things you need to be doing in March to get a fab garden for the summertime.

Flower Seed Sowing

In March you can get down to sowing some flower seeds for summer bedding plants such as Sweet Peas, Sunflowers and Lobelia! This is providing that the weather isn’t too wet and cold so perhaps towards the end of March is the best time for this.

Fruit & Veg Planting

You should have already pruned established trees and bushes and you can make late plantings of soft fruit such as strawberries. Strawberry plants come in a range of different varieties so all you need to do is grab a planter and pick your favourite! Tomato plants can also thrive within a heated green house or on a windowsill that gets plenty of sunlight.

Pressure Washing

Paths, patios and drives can all be cleaned down with a pressure washer in order to get rid of loads of gross grub that accumulates throughout the winter. You’ll be surprised how much dirt comes off and how clean your patio looks once it’s done.

Grass Prepping

Towards the end of the month tend to your lawn or grass by weeding, trimming and sowing some new seeds. Remember not to cut it too short and to keep an eye on moss and weeds. Need some more garden advice? I’m getting so much great information from Suttons.co.uk and can’t wait to see my summer garden.
