Garden Update & Inspo

Over the past 8 weeks, Luke and his dad have been working hard every weekend on our garden to get it ready for the summer. Those of you that follow the blog might know that this our second house in a year but that’s a long story best saved!

As the weather starts to pick up, I thought it’d be nice to share some of the work we’ve done and also share some of our garden inspo and the things we really want for it!

The Transformation
As you can see in the picture below our garden was a complete mess before. Luke and his dad hand built the planters out of decking, installed the fence and then we decided to lay a lawn rather than wait for grass to grow. Since this photo we’ve put up a huge trellis around the garden to give it the city garden vibe.

The Barbecue
Who doesn’t love a BBQ? At our old house we had barely enough garden for a washing line so we’ve been dreaming of hosting our own summer barbecue for a while now. We’ve arranged for some friends from home to come and visit us at the end of the month so hopefully the weather will be on our side. The lads spent two rainy days building a brick barbecue, it needs some finishing touches but I can definitely see them cooking here on a hot summers day.

WANTED – Pallet Furniture
I’m sure Luke won’t mind me saying, he’s usually not the most hands on when it comes to DIY and building work but our garden project with his dad has really got him interested in building and creating stuff. His next project is going to be building us an L shaped sofa out of up-cycled pallets, even down to making the cushions himself.

WANTED – Garden Lighting
Whilst our planters look amazing during the day, when it starts to get dark it’s tricky to see the plants and enjoy that side of the garden. We’ve found these awesome LED lights that are waterproof, meaning we can leave them in the planters whatever the weather and create some beautiful up-lighting.

WANTED – Wireless Speaker
Lets face it, a garden party wouldn’t be complete without some music! We’ve been after a wireless speaker for around the house for some time but have yet to purchase. We are both really into our music but also need to be budget conscious. The HDMX Bluetooth Speaker has great reviews on Amazon, offers 360-degree sound and comes in at under £20 which makes it an absolute must have!

What do you consider to be garden must haves? I’m sure there’s always going to be stuff that we’ve missed or will end up wanting so it’d be great to hear any ideas you guys have!
