5 great places to eat and drink in York

Charcuterie and cheese board

There are hundreds of amazing places to eat in York city centre, from cute little teashops to fancy wine bars and loads of your favourite chains like Byron Burger and Nando’s but these are the five places that we really loved when we visited the Northern city recently.

1. Drift-In

One of the cutest cafes in York is Drift-In, a smoothie bar and coffee shop with incredible sandwiches that’s actually attached to Fat Face. The decor is really cool, full of surf boards and bikes with a proper beachy feel whilst still feeling like it really fits well into the windy streets of York. The staff were lovely and it’s a great place to chill out and grab some lunch on a busy weekend. Read More

Judges’ Court Hotel Review: York

Today’s post is a little feature and a review for the Judges’ Court Hotel in York – this stay wasn’t gifted, we paid for it ourselves but I always think it’s useful to read reviews of hotels in mini-break locations because I’m never sure about Tripadvisor if I’m honest (too many conflicting views!). I just like to add reviews into the mix and let you know whether I’d pay to stay there again. We headed to York to see James Acaster because we couldn’t get tickets in Nottingham where we live and so decided to just make it a long Bank Holiday weekend mini-break because we’d only been to York on a very cold afternoon once together and then years ago as kids separately so we wanted to explore it some more. Are sequins back?

Yes, that is a Sex And The City header image because they are wearing sequins and I have, once upon a time, been a SATC fan girl. Don’t @ me. Let’s get a little retro here. There’s something about going ‘out out’ in sequin dresses or something sparkly which just takes the fun level on a night out up a notch. What is it about sparkles that makes us happy? Read More

Eating my way around Soho; Kaffeine, The Detox Kitchen and Crumbs & Doilies

This was going to be one of my ’24 hours in’ posts just like I’ve done with Leeds, Birmingham and London previously but we were actually only in Soho, London for about 5 hours so this is a little more compact but still jam-packed full of fun and delicious food. We didn’t have chance to stay in any hotels in Soho because we stayed the night before with our friends in beautiful Greenwich after a random but fun night at the O2 watching the Harlem Globetrotters! Where to eat in Nottingham: Bohns Best Burgers

A totally random Friday night dinner resulted in this blog post because I just have to share this place with you guys on here. Bohns Best Burgers is below Brewdog in Hockley and it’s a little hidden gem for Nottingham. We spotted this place on Instagram and decided to take a risk and give it a go because the Blue Cheese Fries looked incredible! We hadn’t really seen much from these guys on social media or heard much on the grapevine yet so we weren’t sure what to expect. Read More
