Here’s a little interiors update with my first shelf styling attempt in our living room! Our house is a mix of modern with some mid-century touches and a mix of monochrome with colour added in – plus it’s a mix of both me and Luke so the finished product is something that looks a little bit like this. I love shelf styling, I think it’s so clever – I’ve been poring over Pinterest for a few weeks now and finally decided to give it a little go.
Over the past 8 weeks, Luke and his dad have been working hard every weekend on our garden to get it ready for the summer. Those of you that follow the blog might know that this our second house in a year but that’s a long story best saved!
As the weather starts to pick up, I thought it’d be nice to share some of the work we’ve done and also share some of our garden inspo and the things we really want for it!
Following on my last post about Brixton, I picked these up after our amazing brunch at Wild Caper from a little shop in the market. I saw them in the window and just had to pick them up for our house. We’re both really into tattoos and the flat, traditional style so these prints really jumped out at me. I’ve put them in our bedroom – our frame wall is really taking shape now. If you love these as much as we do, you can grab them from East End Prints online. Check out Tat Girl & Russian Tat Man!
Finally, we have a bedroom that’s actually relaxing, comfortable and just downright nice to be in. Recently we’ve tackled painting the walls – three white and 1 elephant grey as seen on my Insta – and getting ourselves some curtains and a new wooden Venetian blind. Our bedroom is really coming together and I thought I’d share a few of my favourite bits! First up our bed sheets are all about the geometric, the monochrome and the yellow which is our main accent colour. I picked the fluffy cushions up in Primark for only £4 each and they are SO soft it’s unreal. The rest of the cushions are IKEA and the sheets are George at Asda.
It’s my first Christmas where I can decorate my own home in properly my own style which is really exciting! There’s nothing like Christmas at home but there’s nothing like decorating your own home either. Luke and I are really excited about getting the Christmas decs up and I’ve been doing a little research into how I’d like it to look! Whoever knows us knows that we aren’t the typical type with anything that we do so we won’t be going for the typical green tree and gold and red decorations! We’ll most likely be going for this IKEA YRSNÖ decoration stand which holds 48 decorations and a whole host of pink, blue and silver decorations with splashes of plush mince pie if my mood board is anything to go by.
Today’s post is all about some online gems that I love to scour when I’m after vintage and retro pieces or just to pass the time! I hope you like them. First up is We Are Cow – this is an amazing vintage & retro shop and online store. I’m lucky enough to have one on my doorstep in Nottingham but they also have stores in Manchester, Birmingham & Sheffield. Luke and I often pop in for a browse when we’re in town, it’s such a cool shop. I’ve picked three of my favourite pieces that they’ve had new in online recently to share with you guys. I love this blue denim midi skirt, this digital print boxy dress and this polka dot jumpsuit.
Another interiors post today. I’m becoming really obsessed with prints, posters and frame walls! See below two of my favourites from my Interiors Pinterest board. I’m aiming to get a mix of the two for in both our dining room where we’ve started a frame wall and bedroom where we have two Ikea picture rails that need filling up! I recently bought a really cool train ticket print from Not On The High Street and I’ve got my eye on this Morrissey Print from Lost Lanes too. I’m always looking for really cool sites that sell wall art, posters and prints so definitely give me a heads up if you or anywhere you know sell them!
Over the Bank Holiday weekend we tackled the next room of our house, decorating wise, our bedroom. Here are a few before photos, showing our room, warts and all with the grubby green colour. I think green is definitely now my least favourite colour after sleeping in this monstrosity for a few months. Right now, I never want to see another tin of paint again but there’s still more to do until we’re perfect!
After 3 days of DIY and a whole load of paint we’ve finally finished decorating our guest room! It looks cosmetically lovely now, if you don’t look at the floor or into the corners too closely. I live in a really old house and it was pretty run down when we took it on so this is as good as we can get it as we also rent! But, I think it looks quite lovely now and I’d be happy to have people to stay whereas before I wouldn’t have even slept in there myself by choice!
Nigel’s Eco Store is an amazing little homeware and lifestyle shop online where you can pick up anything and everything related to your home but they all have an eco friendly beginning or a twist! I just thought I’d share with you all some bits I recently picked up from there for the house. I love reading haul posts so here’s my most recent one.
