What do you do during lockdown to keep yourself occupied? It has to be a project, right? We decided to redecorate our bedroom as it’s something that we fancied doing for a little while after some recent inspiration from a boutique hotel stay. We picked up all of our paint and goodies right before we went into proper lockdown and then decided to tackle our decorating over a couple of weekends.
Being eco-friendly, friendlier to the environment and more sustainable in our every day life is something we’ve been trying to improve as a household for months now. I’ve found a few tips, tricks and products that have really been helping us keep on top of this and wanted to share some of my favourites.
As you probably know, I love a bit of interior design, Pinterest and shopping for homewares. You can check out our living room before and after if you fancy taking a nose around our home. I wanted to share three of my favourite styles for a little bit of interiors inspiration in case you’re decorating or looking for some style inspiration that isn’t ‘all grey everything’. As much as I love a grey haven it’s not the style I go for in my own home. Ours is a mix of these three styles as I like to take little bits of styles that I like and mix them all together.
Oh hi there, it’s been a little while and this post is exactly the reason why it’s been a couple of weeks since my last post. You can blame this little grey room for the lack of content around here because it’s just been super duper hectic as we’ve really cracked on with decorating these past few weeks.
Our dining room has had a little bit of a makeover over the past month or so, we’ve been busy! Check out the horrific white box that it was before. It definitely doesn’t help that we have a white table at the moment and the carpet was almost white. This clinical box with grubby flooring is now a pretty glam, dark and dangerous dining room that I am loving.
Furniture is a huge piece of the puzzle when it comes to getting your interiors perfect. Not only is furniture a practical necessity (obv), but it’s a huge part of your style picture. If the furniture in a room isn’t working, then it’s impossible for the room to look its best. When trying to find that missing piece of the puzzle, it can be easy to throw yourself headfirst into a furniture search. Flicking through the gorgeous interiors Instagram accounts is my first port of call! That’s the easy part. Here are three of the most common mistakes that we all make when buying furniture. If you can cut these out of your shopping experience, you can be sure the result will be a room that is just how you want it.
If you know me, you know I love anything Scandinavian in style and Nest is the perfect place for me to mentally cause my bank account some serious damage! I’ve picked six of my favourite pieces to talk to you about today.
The whole see-through furniture thing is really cool, this Kartell Jolly Occasional Table and the Ghost Buster Night Table which actually comes in 5 different colours! I think my favourite is the completely see-through. Kartell is a really cool brand, I first came across them when every interiors blogger and their cats were obsessed with their Louis Ghost Armchair but I really like a lot of their pieces.
Following on my last post about Brixton, I picked these up after our amazing brunch at Wild Caper from a little shop in the market. I saw them in the window and just had to pick them up for our house. We’re both really into tattoos and the flat, traditional style so these prints really jumped out at me. Finally, we have a bedroom that’s actually relaxing, comfortable and just downright nice to be in. Recently we’ve tackled painting the walls – three white and 1 elephant grey as seen on my Insta – and getting ourselves some curtains and a new wooden Venetian blind. Our bedroom is really coming together and I thought I’d share a few of my favourite bits! First up our bed sheets are all about the geometric, the monochrome and the yellow which is our main accent colour. I picked the fluffy cushions up in Primark for only £4 each and they are SO soft it’s unreal. The rest of the cushions are IKEA and the sheets are George at Asda.
So, our new house is all you’ll hear me talking about at the moment but sorry, not sorry! So exciting. Anyway, a new house wouldn’t be complete without a little wish list would it? I’m dying to get a DAB digital radio, preferably a beautiful retro/vintage looking one like the Roberts radios in the pretty pastel colours. Next up, pretty plates are always a must for when people come over for tea of course and these Cath Kidston ones are just perfectly pretty. I’ve also got some CK towels in the mix there, I’m loving polka dots at the moment. On the china/crockery note, Luke needs an L mug because I’ve got an A one and it’s my favourite!
