Burgundies, deep reds and raspberry hues are the only lip colours that we seem to be rocking in these chilly months (well apart from Kylie Jenner, but I bet you couldn’t get her to not wear nude lipstick if her life depended on it!) But, i’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m not a lipstick gal. I mean, I like it and I wear it from time to time but if I was given the choice between liquid eyeliner and a bold lip I’d go eyeliner every single time. Nonetheless, I decided it was probably time to inject some colour into my face every now and again as it’s not so easy to do with clothes this time of year! Let me present to you, my top three lip colours for autumn (hint, they’re all super easy to apply and low maintenance, hence why they’re my favourite!)
From left to right, as swatched, we have MAC’s Sheen Supreme in Good to Be Bad, I love the colour of this, it’s a proper berry stain if you only apply a small amount and do the whole rubbing your lips together thing! This also means that when it wears off it’s not obvious and flaky as it’s really moisturising and light. You can also layer it to create a really deep, intense burgundy which is lovely. In the middle is Clarins Lip Balm Crayon in Soft Coffee from their Colours of Brazil summer collection, I love this as it gives a small wash of colour but at the same time is a lip balm, which is obviously great for the Autumn/Winter too. Last but not least is the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Frambourjois from Boots’ most recent Give it A Go box. (I found some cheeky little Boots voucher codes here, check them out!) The colour of this is stunning and it lasts really well, I find that I have to touch up once after lunch and it’s still looking pretty slick. The only thing with this the fact that it’s a matte product and so can be quite drying if I don’t apply Vaseline or something a couple of times in the day. Other than that, I love it!
Another thing I struggle with in terms of lipsticks is where to keep them! I mean, I don’t have absolutely loads like I know some beauty bloggers do. I don’t get how some people can have literally ever MAC lipstick going, it just isn’t me! BUT, I do have a fair amount, well enough to fill up and spill out over my four muni drawers so I’m always looking for ways of organising my make-up. I found some cute ideas over on Safestore blog, a lot of them are from Pinterest too which is a fab place to find inspiration. Does everyone else use the blogger classic, Muji, or do you have any other favourite storage solutions?
I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know your Autumn lip favourites. Maybe one day I’ll be a lipstick gal…
