Feelin’ in a style rut? Want to try something different but you’re not sure what to add to your wardrobe or what will push you out of your comfort zone? I’ve got three things that you can try to funky up your look a little bit! Obviously, you don’t have to do all three at once if you’re not comfortable with it but I’ve always been a lil’ bit crazy and over the top with my style so it works for me!
From full on floral outfits to skater jeans in bright purple cord to full on sequin dresses, my style has always been something that I’ve thought a lot about. I’ve made some questionable decisions to do with style but at the time I loved it so it doesn’t matter. Style is fun for me so adding things like these tips to my outfits make me feel more ‘me’. I hope you like this post!
1. Add Trainers
I’ve always been a flats type of gal. But, I’m pretty much 100% trainers. I’ll wear boots when it’s chilly and the ol’ soles of Converse don’t cut it but 6/7 days you’ll find me in trainers. I’m not a ballet shoes girl, my feet get cold and they’re just not comfortable for a full day out of the house. My fave trainers at the moment are the Vans Sk8 Hi. I have these in plain white too but these black and white ones are my one true love right now. So comfy, always look cool and are perfect with jeans. I also love Converse and this black polka dot pair is amazing!
By adding trainers to an outfit where you might usually wear a pair of heels or boots for work, it’s instantly cooler. Trainers like Adidas Stan Smiths are perfect for a minimalist and smart take on trainers. Why not try pairing your office trousers and top with some trainers this week? I promise you, you’ll be running around the office in no time!
2. Layer Up
Ever see a cute top and just think that you won’t have the occasion to wear it? This happens to me all the time with cami tops. I love them, especially this pretty star print one from Primark (a bargain £4!), but, I would never wear this on it’s own. I’d feel like I had too much skin on show and just wouldn’t be comfortable. So, my answer to this is to layer it over this Vans tee from ASOS! By adding cute tops on top of plain tees or even sweatshirts you can add an extra element to your look.
I had a little ASOS stalk and I love the The Ragged Priest Flame Print cami, it’s got the cool 00s skater vibes that are around at the moment. This ASOS Crop Pink Sequin is incredible, I think I’ll have to buy it! It’s just so bright. Finally, a cheap and cheerful addition to any wardrobe is this Bright Leopard Print with Lace, this would look really cute over a white t-shirt.
Why not try adding a new texture to your wardrobe? Mesh, velvet, faux fur, leather, sequins, anything! This doesn’t have to mean going crazy with your style if you don’t want to, simply changing a plain top to a velvet one is a super easy way to mix things up. Or, add a mesh long sleeved tee over a plain black long sleeved tee for a different take on monochrome!
This super cute bag is from Primark. It was only £9 and I get people asking me where it’s from every time I wear it, I love it! Check out this Lamoda faux fur backpack and ALDO blush faux fur cross body bag for something similar. Happy styling!
