Is there a better way to spend a cold Monday evening in December than tasting Champagne, cava, Cremant and other lovely fizz? I don’t think so and that’s exactly what I spent a few hours doing this week at Brigitte Bordeaux in Sherwood, Nottingham. A wine bar tucked into a suburb of Notts that I’ve never visited before but heard loads of fun and interesting things about from my fizz loving girls.

Recently I headed to check out the brand new Poundland store (actually their largest ever store, can you believe?) in Nottingham’s Riverside Retail Park. This is the largest Pep&Co fashion and homes departments in the country with loads of brands like Russell Hobbs, Rimmel, Lenor, Cadburys, you name it – they got it!

Lucky Nottingham we’ve been graced with the presence of Hickory’s Smokehouse and before I even saw it was open myself I’d heard lots about it. We tried for weeks to get booked in and finally got in on a Wednesday evening – the first slot available! This isn’t a sponsored or a gifted experience we headed down ourselves as we love barbecue food and just had to try it.

Warning – NSFW (or children)
The brand new ‘crazy golf for adults’ venue in George Street, Hockley is 100% LadBible fodder, a prime stag event venue and perfect for student Instagram accounts. Glory Holes is very try hard and badly done. The staff are all out there to ‘shock’, including the security staff playing down their Covid rules and the manager wearing his mask around his chin whilst saying ‘grab a ball from my sack’. I’m eye-rolling even writing this.

Post in collaboration with Nicole’s Beauty Nottingham a lovely at-home salon in East Bridgford. Nicole kindly gifted me a set of lashes as I wanted to trial whether I’d like them for our wedding and she talked me through the four main options that she has on offer so I wanted to share them with everyone in case it’s a treatment you’re interested in getting. On a side note, Nicole has a very stringent set of policies in relation to Covid-19 so no worries there at all.

Let’s talk hair. I’ve been every colour under the sun thanks to those good old teenage years of the Scene. If you know, you know – our poor hair! Despite this, my hair is in pretty good condition apart from a little breakage on one side which I’m convinced is down to the way I sleep. Right side of my head only, always.

Here’s a little style of blog post I haven’t done in a while! A review of somewhere that I’ve been a paying customer in, multiple times, since we moved to Hucknall, Nottingham. We’ve lived here less than two weeks and I think we’ve been to The Station maybe four times?
This is our new local and we absolutely love it. Real ales, craft beers and amazing food. I just wanted to give it a little shout out if you’re around the area and you fancied a snack, a pint or an awesome home cooked pub lunch.

Revolution at Cornerhouse in Nottingham kindly invited us for a gifted brunch to try their new Bottomless Brunch menu and see what we thought.
Location
Being super central to Victoria Centre and most of the bus and tram stops this Revolution is in a great spot. Plus, you’re close to other bars like Secret Garden which is perfect in the summer, Copper, Ginsecco and Alto if you want to continue the party.

Before Christmas I had the privilege to pop down to The Cod’s Scallops in Carrington to check them out and learn all about their eateries before the 2020 Fish n Chip Awards that are this month! The Cod’s Scallops are an amazing local chain of fish and chip shops created by John Molnar, who used his 30 years of chef and business experience to get onboard a skilled crew, source the finest produce and set sail a fish and chip concept like no other. It really is unlike any other chippy I’ve ever been to!

Another foodie post to throw into the mix this week. Eating out is one of my favourite things to do and I wanted to share three of my go-to places in Nottingham for small plates and tapas style dishes. These are all three different cuisines – we have Indian, Spanish and Italian here and they’re all incredible.
