These personal posts are one of my favourite things to read so I decided to do a bit of my own. Let me know what you think and if there’s anything else you want to know!? I loved reading Robyn’s 6 Kinda Weird Confessions of An Introvert (which funnily enough has pics from the same day as this photo shoot if you’re thinking the backdrop looks *kinda* similar!) because it’s just super interesting to find out more about bloggers behind the blog, don’tcha think? I’m not saying I’m the weirdest or quirkiest person out there by any stretch of the imagination but I just think it’s nice when people find something that they’re like “Yes! I do that too!”.
Browsing beauty counters is something that I’ve loved for years. Swatching the shades, getting mini makeovers and walking away with a treat beautifully wrapped in a gorgeous brand’s packaging? The dream for beauty junkies, right? Totally is! So, this is why I was super excited when a new Nars counter landed in John Lewis in Nottingham city centre and I was invited down to check it out.
I love a date night, and I think they’re so important to have! Especially when you’re 4 years into a relationship, it’s really special when you get out together and make an effort. We headed to Veeno last weekend for a little wine tasting action. We’ve done plenty of beer tours and beer tasting but never a wine tasting together so we were excited to see what we thought.
When I heard The Botanist was coming to Nottingham I was super intrigued. I’d actually never visited one before but we’d ventured to The Alchemist in Leeds and I’d of course, heard all about The Botanist on social and from some of my friends that were already The Botanist lovers! So, of course, when the press event rolled around and an invite popped into my inbox I was really excited. I was also excited about the prospect of heading to West Bridgford as I hardly ever head to this side of town.
When you’re in the world of blogging, it can seem to be incredibly social with all of the events and social media interaction but really, if you’re a little bit shy, it can be super lonely. I’ve never got *too* involved with the scene if I’m honest so it can be weird when none of your friends really “get” blogging.
This ASOS oversized oatmeal jumper has taken over my life, I’m not gonna lie to you. It’s the warmest, softest, cosiest thing ever and it’s just making getting ready so easy. It goes with every colour of denim, every jacket I own and pretty much all of my shoes so we’re getting on like a house on fire.
Finally, a proper Mexican restaurant has planted itself in Nottingham. I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. I know we have Las Iguanas (which isn’t technically Mexican FYI) and Barburrito and Tortilla but these guys basically serve beans and rice in a wrap for lunch. So, it’s safe to say there was a Mexican restaurant shaped hole in my heart. Now it’s been filled! Say hey to El Capo, based in Hockley, down Broadway, where The Rum House used to be, this Mexican Cantina is everything I’ve been waiting for.
Notts has got a lot of things associated with it, from Robin Hood to lace and mr Boots himself (all hail the king of highstreet beauty, am I right?) to crazy things like calling people duck and bacon rolls cobs. It is a cob, by the way. I’m 100% a Nottingham girl now and a cob shop is one of the best inventions ever – hands down.
Comfort zones are the one thing that a lot of people try to avoid. Do something everyday that scares you, get out of your comfort zone, blah. We hear it everyday don’t we? Well obviously doing this is amazing and it’s good for you but there’s something to be said about having a comfort zone.
Microdermabrasion sounds so scary. Like sandpapering your face, right? Well, that’s what I thought until I was invited to try the Crystal Clear Microdermabrasion treatment at Alexsa Beauty in Mansfield.
What is it?
This facial is a ‘resuracing treatment’ that gets to work on problem skin, pigmentation, lines, wrinkles and acne scarring. Basically, it’s meant to leave your skin rejuvenated, soft and refreshed!
