The sunshine is gorgeous and it leaves us feeling sassy and golden, right? Yes! As great as it can make our skin look, because, let’s face it, everyone looks better with a tan, it can wreak havoc on your gorgeous hair. Especially if it’s coloured. I’ve been colouring my hair for longer than I haven’t now, almost. As the queen of hair dye I always try and look after my colour because that stuff is pricey! Here are 5 ways to look after your locks in the summer.
Pink is everywhere at the moment! From fashion buys to pastel hair, pink is always a spring trend and this year it seems bigger than ever. I headed down to Intu Victoria Centre with the gorgeous Robyn for a catch up, a glass of prosecco and a look at some lovely spring trends (including a lot of pink!)
I love getting my hair cut, I always visit KH Hair for my colour and cuts and I love when there’s a new product for my stylist, Ruth, to try on me. When I popped in last weekend they had just launched the new Wella System Professionals Energy Code system and I couldn’t wait to try it out.
Bored of doing the same make-up and having the same hair every day? These four hair and makeup overhauls will make 2016 a real style game-changer!
Create A Dark Lip
Dark lips are great for a striking look in the evening – it’s one of my favourite looks. However, with a neutral eye and dewy foundation, you can also pull them off in the day. Uber-popular blogger Zoella has a handy tutorial on YouTube that combines a dark berry lip with gold eyes. Zoe uses a Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick. If that brand is a little out of your price-range, there are 18 more dark lipsticks listed here ranging in price.
The #BootsBeautyBox is here again! This time, it’s a hair styling special and it’s a pretty exciting box.
First of all, I’m a huge Batiste fan, I’ve tried a lot of dry shampoos and I always go back to them purely because the price is great for the wicked job their dry shampoo does so I was excited to try the Batiste Stylist Oomph My Locks XXL Volume Spray. I’m a fan of texture and volumizing powders so I was interested in this product as occasionally I find I can be a little heavy handed with the powders and things can get messy! I like this spray as it’s easier to control than powders but I don’t think it lasts as long. It definitely adds serious texture though so I might just have to pop a little more in, I’m probably being too cautious!
I get a few questions about how I style my hair occasionally so I thought it’d be fun to do a quick how to post about how I do it and what I use! This ends up looking like my photo in the top right, just if you haven’t seen it.
When I wash it, I always use Wella System Professional Luxe Oil on the ends to keep them happy and then roughly blow dry, sometimes I use a salt spray too but I’m never sure if I really see the benefits of it once I’ve finished my hair. If anyone has any texturising or salt spray recommendations I’d love to hear them please!
As a chick, hair and beauty is one of the things I spend a lot of my hard-earned money on because a) being a blogger it’s something I enjoy and b) I’m quite a girly-girl at heart and do like to look my best when I can! Obviously we all like to save a bit of dollar wherever we can so here’s a few tips & tricks for saving some pennies on our beloved beauty items.
Autumn rolled around and I was feeling like a change! KH Hair is my one-stop shop for all things hair nowadays, since my first trip where they gave me a hair overhaul I’ve kept going back for my trims and this time, my colour. My hairspo for this ‘do was actually Myleene Klass on BBQ Champ if anyone watched that random show on ITV! I already had a dip-dye ombre fade thing going on and this is just a more extreme version with darker roots and lighter ends than I previously had. My hair stylist, Ruth, always nails the colour and the cut, I mean how great is the fade? It doesn’t look stripy or that there’s an obvious change in colour which I love.
When the email popped into my inbox, I might as well have been poised with my IKEA kitchen scissors over my fringe I was that desperate for a haircut! It was pretty awful, I don’t think I realised quite how bad it was until I saw my side by side before and after shots! That fringe though. It was over-grown and dull after years of home-colouring and being lazy about haircuts. KH Hair, previously Keith Hall, saved my little hair’s life. I didn’t go for a drastic change, after my consultation with the lovely Ruth I settled on a subtle ombre fade with a serious trim. I think I had about an inch and a half off and I seriously needed it.
If there’s one thing I know about it’s dry shampoo. I use it every day, whether it’s to freshen up second day hair or to give my just washed hair a texture boost – literally every day. It’s my go-to, holy grail, couldn’t live without hair product and I’ve tried nearly every brand on the market! This in mind, I thought I’d run down three of the latest that I’ve finished up and tell you what I thought of them!
