As Valentine’s Day is usually overlooked in our household due to my birthday being the day after we decided to have our Friday night treat as a bit of a Valentine’s by kicking up dinner a notch or two. We eat well but rarely will treat ourselves to something like a steak. I created this steak salad with crispy potatoes, artichokes and pine nut salad dressing from celebrity chef Valentine Warner‘s Aphrodisiac Menu For Two that he’s created specifically for Valentine’s Day which is inspired by ‘robust, flavoursome food and aphrodisiac inspired ingredients’.
The pine nut salad dressing is created from toasted pine nuts, finely chopped basil, parsley and tarragon mixed with a little lemon zest and juice and some Dijon mustard. I simply roasted the potatoes in the oven at 200C for half an hour with a touch of oil and some salt. We like our steak fairly rare so this took all of about 3 minutes to put together once the potatoes were ready! The meal was lovely, it was so nice to have a treat meal that wasn’t actually too bad for us. I think it’s good to make an effort sometimes and cook for your boyfriend/girlfriend! Treat them, why not, it’s Valentine’s Day!
