Anti Haul: The only 5 items you need in your wardrobe?

Wardrobe rails can get pretty crowded over time, as we update them every season adding what’s new and on trend. But what if you could always look on point, with just five items in your wardrobe? I always switch up my wardrobe when it comes to each season. Packing away my jumpers and getting out my skirts etc but there are definitely key pieces that I keep in there all year round.

One of these three jackets

Certain outerwear works well with anything – any look, any trend and at any time of year. So simply choose from a denim jacket, a leather jacket or a bomber to nail outerwear style whenever and wherever.

Denim jacket
Lightweight and available in a variety of shades to suit every style, the denim jacket works all year round. It’s cool enough for the summer months with a dress and sandals at summer festivals but also works doubled up with a hoody and knitwear to stay warm in the winter.

Leather jacket
When it comes to women’s coats, you can’t go wrong with leather. Waterproof, lightweight but still warm, it’s a jacket that gives all year round. And if you choose high quality leather it’s also one that won’t wear out on you.

Bomber jacket
Great for working with an athleisure look but also for everyday casual style, the bomber jacket has really come into its own this past year. Pick up a luxe style in suede or velvet and you could even swap your work blazer for this comfy jacket.

High quality denim

It goes without saying that we all own at least one pair of jeans, and that a good capsule wardrobe will feature a high quality pair that you can wear for casual days as well as smarter occasions. Darker denim works best for all round style, as it can be dressed up or down.

All weather leather ankle boots

Perfect for tackling wet weather in the winter but also for pairing with a cute summer dress, leather ankle boots are one of the most versatile types of footwear available. Tuck skinny jeans into them in the colder months or pair them with frilly socks should you decide to get your legs out. Opt for a tan or black pair that work with everything.

A crisp white shirt

A white shirt works for a huge number of occasions. Dress it down by wearing it open with a bright coloured cropped t-shirt underneath or smarten it up tucking it into tailored trousers and wearing with a neck scarf. It’s a gift that keeps on giving and looks great with everything.

The little black dress is a style staple, hanging in women’s wardrobes all over the globe. Flattering, elegant and easy to wear, your staple black dress should be one that you can pull out for any special occasion and know you look good in. A strapless or spaghetti strap dress can even be paired with a basic t-shirt and fashion trainers for edgy, everyday style.
