3 sunglasses shapes you need this summer

We’ve had a snippet of summer recently and it’s got me very excited for some sunshine as I’m sure it has for you guys too. Summer means barbecues, cute white tops, making a bee line for the beer garden after work and of course, upgrading your sunglasses collection. I headed down to Loxley for a lovely bloggers event last week to check out their new sunglasses launch, catch up with some lovely people and meet some new blogger babes too.

Over the cutest mini burritos and prosecco we were treated to a first look at some of Loxley’s freshest frames for SS18. These guys only stock the coolest independent brands and of course, everything can be made prescription as they’re an independent opticians too. We checked out frames from RetroSuperFuture (one of Rihanna’s favourite sunglasses brands, just FYI), Kaleos and Komono. I obviously tried on pretty much every pair I could get my hands on and fell in love with three of them.

First up, the 50s shape of these cat eye Kaleos sunnies are just too cute. Pair with a polka dot red dress and the straw bag of the season and you have a ridiculously Insta-worthy outfit about to happen. I also loved the retro-feel but also super modern geometric cat eye white sunnies that are also by Barcelona-born brand Kaleos – I felt like these were seriously cool-girl and definitely not something I could pull off! I loved them nonetheless. My favourite (out of the three faves that I made myself choose because I pretty much loved all of the frames in there!) were the RetroSuperFuture large square black frames that you can see in the middle here. Their classic Wayfarer-esque shape will pretty much suit anyone and these frames are timeless too. As much as I love the first two frames I’ve spoken about they’re super trend led so when I invest in some new sunnies it’s definitely going to be something like the RetroSuperFuture frames here because they’re just super chic and cool. Which are your favourites? Do you have a go-to sunnies style? Let me know in the comments!

Of course, being an opticians they also sell so many gorgeous frames and pairs of glasses. I’ve worn glasses since I was about 10 or 11 and I started wearing contact lenses when I was maybe 15. Basically, I was in the cadets and couldn’t shoot any of the targets properly because I couldn’t see anything. Hilarious. I wear my contact lenses day to day because I work out most days and whether it’s a run, HIIT or yoga I find that my glasses always slip off. But, I’m trying to wear my glasses at least once or twice a week to give my eyes a break from lenses and I wanted to get some ideas for new specs. I tried on both of these amazing pairs from Kaleos. Let me know if you prefer the clear or the black. I can’t decide!

Loxley used to be CrossEyes if you’re thinking that you recognise this gorgeous chair (if you live in Nottingham!) and they have recently had a fab rebrand to Loxley and launched a brand new website. I would massively recommend them as an opticians or even as somewhere just to buy fancy sunglasses because the service is always amazing, it’s a family business and they’re all so lovely and helpful. Huge thanks again to the lovely guys at Loxley for the invite to their awesome event.
