7 facts about me you might not know

These personal posts are one of my favourite things to read so I decided to do a bit of my own. Let me know what you think and if there’s anything else you want to know!? I loved reading Robyn’s 6 Kinda Weird Confessions of An Introvert (which funnily enough has pics from the same day as this photo shoot if you’re thinking the backdrop looks *kinda* similar!) because it’s just super interesting to find out more about bloggers behind the blog, don’tcha think? I’m not saying I’m the weirdest or quirkiest person out there by any stretch of the imagination but I just think it’s nice when people find something that they’re like “Yes! I do that too!”.

1. I’ll eat pretty much anything

I don’t know, probably good parenting or something but I’m probably the opposite of a fussy eater. I love food and I’ll try anything. The only foods that I really don’t like are peas and when people mix sugar with cream cheese for stuff like cheesecake and the frosting on red velvet cake. Gross. Why do that?

2. I hate nights out

I used to love a night out with the girls when I was 18. Bad fake tan, luminous shots and stupid songs were my fave thing back in the day but as soon as I went to uni I found them awkward and boring and hangovers basically got a lot worse. I was over them in about a year and now, I don’t like nights out because I feel really out of place and never know what to do with myself. I love socialising with my favourite people and going to nice bars and restaurants but nightclubs are literally my idea of hell.

3. I have a stammer

Stutter, stammer, speech impediment, whatever you want to call it, I gots one. I’ve had it for as long as I can remember and most of the time, these days, it doesn’t bother me. Basically, my brain stops me from saying words that I want to say because somewhere along the way, the connection is broken. Mine manifests itself as a ‘block’ so I go completely silent. It’s taken me 25 years to be OK with it and I’ll still cry if I have a bad day with it because it’s frustrating as hell not being able to say what you want to say. Only in the past 2 years have I been able to answer my phone when it rings and order what I want in a coffee shop or bar. I’ve had a few years of therapy, both group and one on one and it’s finally kinda OK. A lot of people don’t know that I’ve got it because it’s easy to hide day to day but I’ve struggled with it for most of my life. I’m a pretty confident person so when it stands in my way I get super angry about it but we’re in a pretty good place right now. Just don’t ask me my name, Starbucks gal.

4. I’m super organised

Like, stupidly and annoyingly so. It’s a joke in my life that I will have anything you need, at any time. Floss? I gotchu. Spare toothbrush and toothpaste? You got it. Snacks? Yep. I also will organise every birthday, leaving gift, meal out, meeting agenda, Google Drive, desk and will never let you forget something that you need. I get really anxious if I’ve not written down things I need to do/take/remember because I hate the feeling of forgetting things. I’m pretty tidy too, I don’t like it when things are a mess so my desk at work is spotless and I absolutely hate clutter. I’m a chronic sorter so I chuck out, recycle, sell on eBay everything.

5. I hate being scared

Scary films are not the one for me. Why would you want to be scared? Krampus is probably the scariest film I’ve ever watched I’m not gonna lie. And don’t make me jump on purpose because we will never be friends again. I’ll probably cry.

6. I’ve been blogging for over 6 years

And probably writing for like, 16 maybe? I started my blog when I started uni, best thing you ever told me to do, Mel, not gonna lie. I used to write book reviews for Blue Peter (yeah, totes got a badge), articles for my school magazine and I got an A* in English Language for GCSE. Words are cool. Maths and science on the other hand. Nope!

7. I’m a competition junkie

Not one of those weird ones that has ‘competition accounts’ on Twitter because that’s just too far but, I win a few competitions a year because I genuinely enter a lot! When I was about 14 I won £1000 of House of Fraser vouchers and my life nearly ended because I was so excited. I’ve not won anything as big since but it was pretty cool! I’m just waiting on that £50k and Mini Cooper This Morning comp to come through for me.
