Our dining room has had a little bit of a makeover over the past month or so, we’ve been busy! Check out the horrific white box that it was before. It definitely doesn’t help that we have a white table at the moment and the carpet was almost white. This clinical box with grubby flooring is now a pretty glam, dark and dangerous dining room that I am loving.
I love a bit of tech and fun apps so I wanted to share some of my can’t live without apps for blogging and Instagramming with you babes. Some are old favourites and are really obvious and some are new faves that I’ve only just discovered.
VSCO is my go-to Instagram editing app. I find it the best for taking the warmth out of photos by using the temperature option and also I think their exposure setting is really nice too. I used to use C & G filters on my Instagram – I mix and match these because I cba with an actual theme because they seem to always look rubbish anyway even if I try. And, when I do try, I get stressed! So, I do use VSCO for Instagram cropping and editing and the occasional filter but I’ve got a new filters app to go on about in a little bit…
Hello, January! We’re into a new year and it’s time to do all those things that we’ve wanted to do for ages and for me. one of them is reading. I was bought some lovely books for Christmas and I can’t wait to get stuck in to them and do a little bedtime reading instead of scrolling. Here are the three books that I’ll be indulging in over January, they’re all different subjects but they’re all going to be super useful.
Inspiration is a huge thing to me. But, there are so many things that people demonise these days like Instagram, the internet and hashtags like #inspo because they’re bad for people’s self confidence. I totally agree that it goes too far sometimes but I think that Instagram and Pinterest especially can be amazing for motivation and inspiration for yourself!
My summer holiday countdown is on! With only a few weeks to go I’m already planning my capsule wardrobe for the 9-10 days that I’m away for. One thing that I’ve been on the lookout for a while is the perfect straw beach bag. I’m after something cute, a bit funky and with a lot of room so it’s a great size for me to take on the plane as my hand luggage!
I’ve started travelling a lot more within the past few years and visiting loads of new cities, both in the UK and Europe. I’ve discovered how much I love being a ‘travel blogger’ and how useful it is to other people to be able to read reviews of places and see real-life images of hotels, resorts and places to eat and drink. We always, always read numerous reviews about hotels, cafes and things to do before we hit a new city or holiday destination! I follow so many travel bloggers, I’ll do a post on my favourites soon but, if you’re a travel blogger or Instagrammer, I’ve found the best hashtags to make sure your content is seen throughout the channels and profiles that you want it to be.
Over numerous city breaks, holidays and sunshine-seeking trips I’ve learnt a few things about travelling that I’ve turned into some simple rules that I follow every time I go away to make the break run as smoothly as possible! We’ve recently been to Dublin which you would have seen if you follow me on Instagram and I definitely used all of these tips before and during the time that we were away.
I’ll admit it, I’m one of those people that usually takes a picture of something I’ve ordered in a restaurant or a cafe before I eat it. I just want to remember how good it was and of course, I love to Instagram it. I’ve collaborated with The Furniture Market to put together a guide of all things Instagram from angles to flat lays, here’s some of my best tips for taking sweet Instagram food shots!
I’ve been listening to a lot of the Girl Boss Radio podcast by Sophia Amoruso – the founder of Nasty Gal. I featured it in my 3 Podcasts You Need To Listen To post a few weeks ago, check that out if you haven’t already! She interviews loads of great business women over a huge range of subjects and areas of business and recently one of them said something that really resonated with me.
Fancy a really tasty after-work treat or cheeky lunchtime chow down? Pieminister is one of the latest eateries to open up in Notts and I’ll admit, it’s taken me a while to get down there and see what it’s all about. I thought Pieminister was more of a fast-food type of thing, I didn’t realise it was a proper fast-casual restaurant with knives, forks and beer bottles.
