KIKO Cosmetics Review

KIKO Cosmetics is brand I’ve been aware of for so long but I’ve never taken the plunge to buy anything from their website because a) you never can be sure of colours/textures etc online and b) their minimum order amount was about £25 which I thought was a bit crazy. BUT then, last month they opened a store in Nottingham’s Victoria Centre and I knew I had to check it out. I picked up a few products that have been on my radar for a while, so here’s my two cents on KIKO as a brand! Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products and what you think too. Read More

From Backstreet Barber to Swish Salon: KH Hair Nottingham Review

When the email popped into my inbox, I might as well have been poised with my IKEA kitchen scissors over my fringe I was that desperate for a haircut! It was pretty awful, I don’t think I realised quite how bad it was until I saw my side by side before and after shots! That fringe though. It was over-grown and dull after years of home-colouring and being lazy about haircuts. KH Hair, previously Keith Hall, saved my little hair’s life. I didn’t go for a drastic change, after my consultation with the lovely Ruth I settled on a subtle ombre fade with a serious trim. I think I had about an inch and a half off and I seriously needed it. Read More

A Day Out with Oasis, #BessieTheBus & The Great British Food Festival

A few weeks ago, on a (partly-sunny) Sunday, Luke & I popped down to Hardwick Hall, just outside of Nottingham and checked out the Great British Food Festival. This is where Oasis’ crazy little shop-on-wheels Bessie The Bus was based for a stop of her giant tour of Great Britain! She’s been on the road since the 17th of May and is hitting up 250 stops on her tour, so see if you can catch her – it’s a whole load of cuteness. Read More

Revolution Hockley Nottingham Review

This weekend I was invited down to Revolution Hockley to give their new street-food inspired ‘Revolution Kitchen’ menu a try. We all know ‘Vodka Revs’ as the place of 1000 different types of vodka and your average high-end pub food with 50% off Mondays. These guys are breaking out of the mould and actually giving their menu some extra thought. This new menu is based on the ‘foodie scenes of New York and San Francisco’ and we all know street-food is seriously on trend right now. I was excited to give it a go, and *spoiler alert* – I was really impressed! Read More

Spring/Summer Accessories with East Midlands Designer Outlet

My first McCarthurGlen Designer Outlet experience was at Cheshire Oaks when I got lost with my mum on the way back from somewhere when I was about 10, I think! We thought we’d found the Mecca of shopping, it was awesome. So, when East Midlands Designer Outlet invited me along for a day of shopping to check out what they had on offer as part of their Spring/Summer accessories campaign, I was excited to say the least. photo IMG_7983_zpsvxexr2mr.jpg Read More

Red's True Barbecue Opening Night

On Wednesday morning an email popped into my inbox inviting me to the opening press night of Red’s True Barbecue in Nottingham on Thursday evening. To say I was excited would be an understatement. We’ve been hot on this place’s heels for months now, ever since we saw the signs going up for a new barbecue establishment in the centre of town! I hadn’t heard of Red’s before but Luke had assured me that it’s awesome as they already have places in Leeds and Manchester and we started social media stalking them like nothing else! photo IMG_7880_zpshllvekzo.jpg Read More

Mermaid Nail Art from Lady Bee's Nails!

This little lady had been on my radar for a while since I discovered her awesome Instagram account – Lady Bee’s Nails is ran by a gal called Brittany and she is definitely Nottingham’s answer to WAH nails! She’s at Code Hair & Beauty Salon on Trinity Walk in Nottingham on Friday & Saturdays. At the weekend I’d had enough of chipped nasty nails that are ruined after you just trying and get something out of your handbag! Even the toughest top coat won’t keep my nails looking nice so I decided that I’d treat myself to having my nails done again with a little Christmas money that had been burning a hole in my pocket. I popped along on Saturday and indulged in these amazing mermaid nails, what do you think? Check out Britt’s Instagram for some serious nails-spo. I can’t wait to go back and get a new design, what shall I get next time? photo IMG_7760_zps114f5695.jpg Read More

200 Degrees Coffee Nottingham

200 Degrees is the newest coffee house to hit Nottingham and it’s the reason I’ll never be going to Starbucks or Costa ever again! You just have to walk past it to realise that it’s not your average coffee shop or cafe, it’s a totally new entity full of amazing homemade food, the best coffee in town and truly friendly staff. They also have a Barista School, they roast their own coffee and have been supplying other coffee shops in Nottingham for a while before they started their own coffee shop. Check them out on Instagram too for some serious caffeine-induced eye candy. Also, definitely try the ham, leek & chilli jam panini, it’s insanely good. Leeks in a sandwich? Trust me. Read More
