I love finding new coffee shops and cafes when I head away because I love to recommend great places for people to go to when they travel, that’s one of the best things about being a travel and food blogger, the two go hand in hand!
My newest favourite is 3FE. 3FE Coffee were founded by Colin Harmon, an ex-trustee officer for a professional investment fund who worked in Dublin’s financial district. He realised that finance wasn’t really for him and in 2008, quit his job and got a job as a barista and now owns two coffee shops in Dublin city centre and creates some pretty tasty drinks and awesome food. 3FE have locations at Grand Canal St and Sussex Terrace.
We headed to the Grand Canal St branch on Saturday morning as soon as we got to Dublin on our city break. We were in desperate need of breakfast number 2 after our super early flight and these guys didn’t disappoint. Luke went for the porridge, topped with poached rhubarb, pomegranate, honey and poppy seed which was priced at €6 and I was starving and couldn’t resist the bacon and avocado stacked toastie which is packed with leaves and brown sauce and topped with a fried egg. This was only €8 which I thought was a great price for the plate that came out. 3FE’s homemade brown sauce was amazing and there was a tonne of food for the money. We both had a cappuccino which was also really nice. One thing I found in Dublin was that coffee is quite expensive and they’re usually quite small but it seemed to be the same everywhere, you just have to get used to it!
