The Time When Jim's Smokehouse Redeemed Itself

I’m sure you’ve all read my scathing review of the new Low n Slow Smokehouse in Nottingham – Jim’s Smokehouse. If not, you can read it here! Anyway, it was completely truthful and I meant every word because it was truly awful and I didn’t have a nice time. But, I appreciated that it was a very busy night for them and they were probably overwhelmed by the whole ordeal BUT that is no excuse for poor quality meat and bad cooking. Read More

Jim's Smokehouse Nottingham Review

When we saw an ad on Facebook for a ‘Free BBQ Opening Night’ at Jim’s Smokehouse, a new southern American BBQ restaurant it looked like a good destination for a cheeky after work dinner! I mean, who doesn’t love a) a free dinner and b) Texas BBQ food. We’re talking beef brisket, burgers, ribs and chicken. Jim’s Smokehouse has recently opened in the Lace Market area of Nottingham and is described as a Texas Smokehouse in which everything is cooked Low ‘n’ Slow. Read More

Annie's Burger Shack Nottingham Review

Annie’s Burger Shack is one of those mysterious places that you hear about along the grapevine, the town is always full of rumours about how incredible the food is and how much you need to go there to experience the cool atmosphere. Annie’s has recently moved to bigger premises (they’ve been open since 2009!) and is now in the heart of the Lace Market in Nottingham, a short walk from the town centre. Luke and I ventured there the other night on an impromptu whim after a cheeky pint because our tummies were talking and we needed a proper burger! Because we didn’t book we had to sit outside and were not given table service, we just had to order at the bar. This was absolutely zero problem because the weather was really warm and we’ve got no problems going up to order our food! Read More

Wired Cafe Nottingham Review

Today I’m reviewing a little place that I’ve wanted to go for a while now as I’ve always loved the way that it looked and the branding and the general feel of the place looked great so at the weekend I ventured along with the intention of doing a little review to see if it was up to scratch to recommend on next week’s Grazia regional blogger feature – #WhatToDoThisWeek, where I give people the heads up about somewhere fab to go in Nottingham for the coming week. The Three Crowns – Nottingham Review

A pub lunch is definitely a firm favourite of mine when I’m not on the healthy eating bandwagon. This weekend Luke and I had the opportunity to test drive a newly re-opened pub in Nottingham, where we live, so we jumped at the chance to grab a free lunch. The catch was that it was part of the ‘Sizzling Pubs’ chain, we would never normally eat in a chain pub out of choice because we don’t like to pay for something when we feel that we can get something better for the same price. For example this whole meal that we went for would have cost us nearly £30, which we would have normally spent somewhere like Nando’s or Pitcher & Piano and get something that we know will be good quality. But, we gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to go along and see what they had to offer. Read More

Clarins Summer Fragrance; Eau des Jardins

Today, we’re talking fragrance. Not just any fragrance, but the prettiest bottle and the loveliest smelling summer fragrance of the moment from Clarins. Their new line has three additions, this is the ‘floral’ scent and they have a woody one and a citrus based one too. They all smell beautiful but this one is my definite favourite, rose and blackcurrant are an amazing combination, who knew? This is definitely my summer scent from now on. Bring on the sunshine. Murad Essential-C Skin Care Range

Did anyone else take advantage of the InStyle & Murad collaboration code thingy that was winging it’s way around Twitter the other week? I snapped it up quicker than you could say ‘skincare’ and this little box of beauties was flying my way by the weekend. If you missed it, the offer was get this little kit worth £75 free when you bought anything else from the website, pretty good offer I thought! And, it got better. Postage was free. Amazing. I hate paying for postage, it’s really one of my biggest pet hates so I love when companies and brands offer free postage, it definitely makes me more inclined to purchase from them. I’ll be sharing my other purchase in a separate post because I’ve actually wanted to try it for ages and this offer spurred me on, but that’s for another day! Read More

Edelweiss Comes to The UK

I’m one of the lucky 75 bloggers that have been chosen to try out this lovely little skincare regime that’s coming over from Austria. Edelweiss is actually a flower, not just a brand name and houses some incredible hidden cosmetic powers. It naturally protects against the sun’s harmful rays and is packed full of antioxidants. It can also help with ageing, sagging and rebuilds collagen! Clever little plant huh? Read More

Bourjois Happy Light Matte Primer Review

As we know, I’m on the hunt for the perfect primer, and this one comes pretty close! I don’t know whether it’s because I’ve changed up my skincare routine a little bit and I’m using a new moisturiser too which may suit my skin more than my old one, I’m going to feature that soon! Anyway, back to the primer, this is the Bourjois Happy Light Matte Primer, all the words in that title. They have a satin or radiance version too, but of course, I got the matte one for my oily skin. It’s £10.99 from ASOS or any high street retailer which I think is quite a good price for something that really holds my makeup in place! This really does feel mattifying on my face as soon as I put it on! Also my makeup has been lasting considerably longer, and if it does fade off a tiny bit, it’s even, and not patchy like normal! This is great, especially around my nose, where I find that I’m most oily, I don’t have the annoying residue of my foundation like I normally do. All in all, I’m really impressed and this is definitely one of my favourites this month already.  Read More
