Eesh. I know. 99% of the time breakouts are the devil. They’re the one thing that you do NOT want to happen. But, recently, I’ve come to a little realisation that sometimes they can be a good thing. Breakouts are basically a clear out of all the junk under your skin which is gross, but it can leave you with the glowiest of glowing skin when everything’s cleared up.
I recently came back from holiday, and after almost two weeks of suncream and sunshine and my skin wasn’t too bad whilst I was away. But, I was also away from my Magnitone and proper skincare routine for this whole time too. Whilst I was away I didn’t really have any issues apart from the odd whitehead from sweaty suncream skin so I was happy to be makeup free in the days – yay! But, when we came home I changed the brush head on my Magnitone to a fresh and clean new one and all hell broke loose. I was getting spots where I’d literally never got them before. We’re talking just underneath my eyes and on my cheeks for a few examples. Crazy.
Luckily, I’ve pretty much come out of the other side now, a couple of weeks later and my skin is looking way better than before we went away. What do I use when breakouts are rife? I’m absolutely loving La Roche Posay and I have done for absolutely ages. They do a perfect on-the-spot treatment that zaps spots called Effaclar A.I. Targeted Breakout Corrector which attacks spots without drying skin out. I also love the Clinique Anti-Blemish Clearing Gel, the Origins Super Spot Remover and I’ve recently tried using The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution. All of these are awesome for hitting spots hard!
Moisturiser-wise I’ve been using the Effaclar Mat Sebo-Controlling Moisturiser in the day. It’s a great base for foundation too as well as targeting oily skin and spots when they pop up. I picked up both products from HelloSkin, who kindly sent me these La Roche Posay products that I already knew I loved. They’re a cute online store that I’ve just discovered that specialises in skin problems like Psoriasis, Acne and Eczema. They only stock the best products for these skin concerns so it’s my new go-to place when I feel like I have a breakout brewing. They stock Aveeno, Clinique, Clearasil and Biore to name a few brands!
