Yes, bargain-ous is a word. January was meant to be ‘no-spend’ month but I let myself off for a few little things and wanted to share some cute and super cheap hair accessories that I’ve spied recently! Pearl clips have been hitting up my Instagram for weeks now and I wanted to hunt one down that was really cheap because I knew I wouldn’t be wearing it year after year as it’s so trend based. Spoiler alert, these are all from eBay so if you fancy a bargain, check out the links at the end of the post.
Meet Kris, the Hiking Boots You Need In Your Life
Let’s be honest, the hiking boot trend has been completely overhauled this past few weeks by the gorgeous Holly Willoughby just chilling in her Grensons in the I’m A Celeb jungle. But, we can’t all afford £250 boots just because they look cute, can we? Definitely not in my case so the fabulous Ego Shoes have come to the rescue with some absolute beauties. These are the Kris chunky boots and they are unbelievably comfortable. They are also under £60 which is a bargain for a sturdy pair of boots and definitely awesome for a trend led piece. Plus, they always have awesome discounts on site and you can grab student discount too if you’re lucky to be that young!
3 ways to have more sustainable style
Eeeek, I think we all saw Fashion’s Dirty Secret on BBC last week and were all suitably shocked. I had never heard of the Aral Sea, nor did I realise that the jeans I’ve been buying could have contributed to the complete lack of water that has plagued the poor towns and villages around this area. This paired with the horrific polluted waters from the factories of our well known high street brands was almost too much to watch. I won’t go into every detail of the show in this post because you probably watched it but we all know that fast fashion seriously has something to answer for when it comes to the environment.
My Sunday Best
Sundays are the days for having fun, doing something cute with the people you love and chilling out to the max. This weekend we had a DIY and jobs day on Saturday after a crazy weekend of entertaining the weekend before and then Sunday was all about relaxing and taking time for ourselves.
Whilst DIYing and general life changes happening everything can get a bit crazy so it was time for a fun day to ourselves. We headed out for some house shopping at H&M home, some autumnal warming lunch at Pieminister and a cinema trip to watch Winnie The Pooh (seriously cute, go and see it!). If we have plans like this for a Sunday then I’ll get a proper ‘outfit’ together and hopefully get an outfit snap or two! Saturdays are spent food shopping and cleaning so usually not a sassy outfit and usually hair up in a pineapple so here’s my casual but with a funky red lip outfit to head out in.
Workwear Capsule Wardrobe
Ok, when I say capsule, I mean it’s all put together like an edit – there isn’t necessary the minimal amount of clothes that I could possibly have here. And, full disclosure, I’m missing some shirts from this line up because they needed ironing and it was easier to take them out of shot. Real talk.
Converse hits McArthur Glen!
Last weekend I had a very lovely visit to the new Converse store that’s recently launched at East Midlands McArthurglen Designer Outlet and we were greeted by wall to wall Converse – exactly what you’d expect.
I know what you’re thinking, weren’t they all just random neon yellow pairs that no one wanted from online? I’m not going to lie to you, there were a few random pairs knocking about on their sample sale style walls but seriously, there were so many bargains and so many pairs that you’d really want. These guys? £60 on the highstreet – so many pairs in every size for £40. That’s a £20 saving and £20 more to spend in the Cadbury outlet store. Yep.
5 things making me happy in June
2. Reading a magazine
Just a little luxury that I’ve been trying to use as relaxation instead of scrolling through Insta, because, let’s face it, that’s not really that relaxing a lot of the time. Women’s Health is always interesting to me and I love their recipes, I’ve already made the sweet potato falafels from this issue and they were delicious! What do you do when you don’t want to go on your phone? I love to read whatever book I’ve got out of the library at the moment, a magazine or try and concentrate on a series on Amazon Prime.
3. Glowing skin
Following on from beauty deliveries is a new brand that I’ve recently tried. Erborian is a brand that I’ve spotted in magazines and online over the years but I’ve never tried so I’d love to get to know these guys better after trialling their Bamboo Glow Dewy Effect Cream. This is a 2 in 1 moisturiser and primer and it gives awesome glow. I’ve also used it as just a highlighter over makeup to give a little extra life to my face when I’ve been travelling on trains for work and generally bobbing about the country! I love the feel of this on the skin because it sinks straight in and doesn’t feel heavy or too glittery or shiny. I also love that it’s a moisturiser and a primer in one because it saves me taking two products when I travel.
4. Nice pants
Let’s be honest, when you’ve got matching bra and pants on you feel like you’ve got your shit together and I’ve been putting off getting some new underwear for a while. Because, I want nice pants but it’s just not something I like to splurge that much on. I’m usually a M&S basics gal and that suits my minimalist mind just fine. When Beija London got in touch I thought their products looks so gorgeous. Still minimalist and simple without being fussy and lacy and blah like a lot of ‘nice’ underwear. And, I love their system of having three types of bra (the X is unpadded, the Y is a little bit padded and wired for B-D cups and the Z is a fully supportive bra for DD+) and then different styles.
I went for the Y Bra in the For Keeps Style and the For Keeps brief. The Y bra has a half pad is wired and has a teeny 3mm of foam in the bottom cup. I love the silver hardware and the fact that it also has a J hook that adapts the straps to make a racer back – so handy! These are perfect for me as they’re fancy, well made and luxurious but I don’t feel like I’ve walked out of Ann Summers – that’s just not my style. Whatcha, waiting for? Treat yourself!
5. My cute new bag
I’ve been after a straw or basket bag for ages after obviously seeing them take over Insta-style recently. They just give any outfit a little summery update and I love that. I like the tiny circular basket ones and the handheld ones but they’re just not practical for me. I’ve learnt over the years not to just buy something because I think it’s cute on Instagram. I now think about whether I’m actually going to use it in my daily life and I settled on the Miss Selfridge Natural Circle Tote Bag because it’s got those summery vibes but it’s a great size and I can use it everyday for work and not just have to save it for the weekends! I have already spilled strawberry and blueberry juice on it though so I wouldn’t recommend carrying your berries in it unless they’re in a clip lock tub. Oops.

Summer style and a brunch alert
Brunch is my favourite food group and yep, I’ll accept being basic af with that admission but, what you gonna do? This gal likes eggs, and anything on toast. Last week I popped to Cartwheel in Nottingham with my hun Robyn for a catch up. She took the photos that I obviously couldn’t take myself – thanks babe!
7 sunny yellow summer pieces
Another post full of shopping-enabling picks for you today, gals. I don’t know what happened but after I tried on this amazing River Island crochet jumper I’ve been obsessing over yellow. 100% my new fave colour of the summer. I picked up some amazing yellow sandals in Primark last week and I’m just trying to stop myself buying all of the picks in this post! Let me know what you think about these pieces in the comments.
5 current summer babes I can’t live without
This post was going to be my May favourites but I didn’t quite get around to sorting my life out so it’s a general summer-themed jumble of some products that I’ve been loving recently and wanted to share! There’s everything from tan to library books so I hope you enjoy!
